said by fartness:So H is for ATT's 4G and the 4G logo is for ATT's 4G LTE? The mobile network type that shows up under H is either HSPA or HSPAP.
Today at work, due to the building make-up, I'd always get 4G on my old phone. Now I get H on this new phone, but same amount of bars.
HSPA is just a faster internet than 3g.......Back when it came out they called it 4g, but in reality it's a 3.5g.........LTE is of course far superior to hspa.
It's possible your old phone just called HSPA 4g..............It's been years since I've had att, but I feel like 4g, and LTE are considered different things.
And for the record, you can use any unlocked phone on the GSM carriers. Assuming the internals match up with the frequency the carrier uses. Generally they do. If you notice in the ebay listing, it says check your carrier bands, and then provides the bands the phone uses.
To bad att's rural coverage is so terrible or I would have stayed with them as I had unlimited. But being a truck driver, att was a joke :|.....But I do miss being able to buy any phone I wanted and have it work. Now with sprint they don't allow that quite yet......At least not until everything is LTE, and then there will be no difference between the carriers anymore.
