Re: switching from dsl to uverse

The modem says
Manufacturer Pace Plc
Model 5031NV-030

I went in and looked at it and found this
Private Network DHCP Info
Range 192.168.1.64 – 192.168.1.253

My router is set to static ip of 192.168.1.1 so I am guessing this is why its not even recognized by the modem.
All my other devices were set on this like my nas is static ip 192.168.1.20
its funny the nas device is set to a static ip but the modem assigned it 192.168.1.65 and it works.

anyway its been a long day tomorrow I am going to remove the static on the router and see how that works. Thank you for the links, if all else fails I will read the directions ROFL

tried the speed test here 3 test at different times.
the line is provisioned at 18mb but its running over 23.

.64-.253 is the default range for DHCP. The Pace uses the 192.168.1.0/24 subnet, so you have to change the subnet on your router, along with the router IP (for example, 192.168.x.1 where x is not 1 and does not exceed 255, so like 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.2.1)
This is just for your LAN, the private network that your router controls.
Also, seems like you have to configure your modem to use DMZ+ to your router. Make sure the router has DHCP/automatic for the WAN to pickup an IP.
Anyhow, I do suggest reading over the DMZ+ guide, since it shows step-by-step how to do it, and also most U-Verse tiers are over provisioned, so it's normal to get 23Mbps. You might be paying for 18Mbps, but your line is synced to 25Mbps most likely.

followed the directions and it was funny that it started working after I made the initial settings, 192.168.2.1 on the router and I was working. I did make all the other changes to make sure and so far so good.
one question if I may, on the router before I had all my other eq set up with static ip's of 192.168.1.XXX so that it was easy on one device to connect to another.
Should I change all them to 192.168.2.XXX now ?

To what I'm understanding, you had it where DHCP on your router gave out those specific IPs to specific devices that you wanted, correct?
If so, then yes you would have to change it to 192.168.2.x, but that's only if your router didn't update it. Typically, if you change the router IP and subnet that it uses, it will also change DHCP automatically to be within that subnet.
