[OK] CableCard and CCI data

In reading more about CableCards and copy control information, I am beginning to understand that CableCards are programmed in a way fundamentally differently from "regular" rented STB's/DVR's.

In particular, I'm realizing that it is apparently possible to have per channel CCI information set to unrestricted on a per-CableCard basis from the Cox side. As it is, I am able to see *none* of my cable channels other than retransmitted local stations. I just want by CableCard to give me what I'm already paying for..

If someone with Cox might see this and would be willing to help get it resolved I would be most appreciative.

All I can say is; good luck. Cox has a pretty hard line when it comes to CCI. Either it works in your area, or it doesn't. Then there is the work required to customize provisioning, and the fact that once they did it for one person, everyone with a cable card would be calling in. Your best bet is to try to contact a Cox employee on here so you can keep it on the down low. JMHO

::Edit:: If it helps, I can break down the procedure and methods for pairing a cablecard from Cox's side. I can think of a few areas where it might be possible, but I have never seen it done.

As Harry said, Good Luck.

This is something those of us with Tivos have been experiencing forever. Cox lifted the restriction for a month or 2 a few years ago but then went back to only the Locals being copy freely and has been that way since.

Here is a thread about it from 2011:

»[CATV] [AZ] Need help from a cox employee

and another:

»[CATV] Can you pressure Cox to remove copy-once flagging?

Luckily it does not affect streaming between Tivo's.
