Strange issue with HomeHub 2000 and FTTH

Hello,

I just had FTTH installed today along with Fibe TV, and encountered a strange issue with PPPoE passthrough. I had previously used passthrough as a sort-of bridge mode with a Sagemcom 2864 which worked well for the most part.

With the new modem, if I configure passthrough on my Time Capsule (802.11ac) my speed test shows 150Mbps down and 100Mbps up. Great, except I have Gigabit fibe! Running a speed test connected to the Home Hub wireless network gets me 750Mbps down and 100Mbps up.

The only way I can get similar speeds on my Time Capsule is to set a static IP for the WAN port on the same range as the Home Hub and put my router in the modem's DMZ. This has the negative result of double NAT which is no big deal since they are on different IP ranges.

Although it works well as above, it's obviously not the best setup. Has anyone seen similar issues with their new installs? I have tried multiple cables and ports, so it's not a wiring issue. I'm not expecting the full 940Mbps since I'm wireless, so 750Mbps seems to be the best I will get over 802.11ac. Unfortunately I can't get rid of the Home Hub since I also have Fibe TV.

Thanks,
Justin.

Instead of having the time capsule establish the PPPoE session, not sure if there's a feature on the time capsule that requires a public IP, set the WAN to bridge and just let the Home Hub handle everything.

While your results were still slower than they should be, by the looks of it you'll never get your full 1Gbps line speed with the Time Capsule

Yes, I also tried setting the Time Capsule to bridge mode and let the Home Hub do the work, but the speed test results were still 150Mbps. The only way I can get the full speed is to set a 192.168.2.x IP on the WAN side, point it to the Home Hub and put it in the DMZ.

When you do that are you testing wired or wireless? Same question for your test with the Home Hub0

Wireless for both but I will grab a wired adapter for my laptop and test that way. Thanks for the pointer.
