Re: How to set Firewall to higher level without killing needed SSL mail ports

Hi, I'm reasonably tech savvy but certainly NOT a router/gateway expert. I would LOVE to be able to put this router in bridge mode and use an Apple router I own that I would much prefer to use. But my guess is it's above my skill level to accomplish that task and it would be a huge debacle if I messed up the Frontier router where it couldn't be recovered??? How hard is it to run this Frontier 7550 router in Bridge Mode??? Any feedback??? thanks

I realize this post is a bit dated but I don't know if you found an answer to this question in light of your more current issue. Anyway, here is an answer to your question which hopefully may help with your current camera issue.

No, I have not yet resolved this issue... I appreciate the feedback. I saved the document you linked and will review it soon. I have not one but two Apple Airport Extreme routers, one older and one quite new. I understand how they work reasonably well and would love to still be using the newer one.

I read another document elsewhere that made bridging the gateway to be quite a daunting project, one that was perhaps beyond my skills. But I do have a unique opportunity to try right now as I still have my old cable modem / apple router system up and running as a network in my home. Then, more recently I added the Frontier system mainly because they offered a huge speed upgrade as they have pulled fiber directly to the home in this new neighborhood. The cable system, Comcast, on the other hand, microwaves signeal up to this out in the country little town such that we get pitiful speeds. It's my plant to drop Comcast as soon as I'm totally satisfied that Frontier is the way to go. But for the moment, I am choosing to pay for TWO ISP's. If there was ever a time to screw up the Frontier system such that I needed to call Frontier to help me get out of my mess, now would be the time. We will see... thanks for the info...

Do you have any input as to whether you've ever done this and might you think it's daunting??? Or easy??? thanks...

I've never worked with those particular products but as far as setting the 7550 into bridge mode, from what I read it should be fairly straight forward.
