Want Broadband in 95335 / 95346

Looking for broadband service in our area »bit.ly/1JABa07 The only options is Satellite, and it is expensive, slow and has ridiculously low caps, and not all neighbors have a clear shot through the trees to the satellites. We have Hughesnet which is fine for e-mail and light web browsing but little else. Comcast service ends about a mile away in Sierra Village, but we haven't been able to convince them to come in our development of 100+ homes, that is currently served by a very basic, mostly analog cable service from Sierra Nevada Communications, who has been 'promising' broadband for 10+ years. We are too far from the CO for DSL (AT&T, Sonic, DSLExtreme etc.). We have been waiting over 10 years, still no real options. How can we convince Comcast to extend their lines ? Or AT&T to build a CO in our neighborhood ? Anyone have any other ideas ?

Wow you really did wind up in the middle of nowhere.

I think it'll be a hard sell for <=100 customers, especially given the logistics. The Comcasts and AT&Ts of the world have to justify the expenditure of extending their network. Good luck.

Are there any businesses in that town? You could ask them what they use.

Nearest "town" (if you could call it that) is Sierra Village - they have access to Comcast. The ski area 15 miles further up the hill uses the telephone copper ... If we could get a remote (Satellite?) DSLAM (I think that is what it is called) ....
