I know this is an old thread. Since it was near the top of the hit list on search, I'm replying to set the record straight.

With the latest update to Lollipop (5.1x), no Android application that I know of (on a device that isn't rooted) can "pick up - hang up" or "hang up without ringing." They have to be sent to voicemail. The best alternative to "pick up - hang up" is to simply answer the call yourself and then hang it up yourself.

If you don't like how that is, you should complain to Google, not that they listen to anybody often.

I'll let it go to VM. I surely don't want to personally answer calls from "Rachel" and her ilk.

The only app that will work is the Extreme call blocker. Its not free.

I just got this app. last week, and I am very happy with it. Does what it says it will do.

AntiNuisance also handles answer then hangup under Lollipop (without ringing or going to VM). I'm trying to decide between it and Extreme Call Blocker. Both programs seem to have excellent support. AntiNuisance has fewer features. I'm trying to decide if I need the added complexity of Extreme Call Blocker. BTW, both apps provide backup and restore to sdcard which is one of my requirements. AntiNuisance is free with ads and annual fee without ads.

How long is the trial before you must pay?

I honestly cant answer that. I can tell you, you will get a screen saying the trial has expired (mine was on the 2nd. day), but it really isn't expired (per the developer).

I emailed the developer when I got this screen only on the 2nd. day of use, and was told not to worry about it, that all functions will still work.

Around the 4th. day I knew I liked the app enough to pay for it...so I am unable to say how long the trial works. (I never asked)

It is a great app. Has a lot of bells and whistles, and may seem hard to set up, but it really isn't. The instructions on the setup are quite good, and there is a possibility most things it is capable of doing, you wont need.

I really like the pickup/hangup no voice mail!
