[HSI] Area wide packet loss in Monterey Park, CAJust a heads up, about two weeks ago packet loss that causes about 17% packet loss started. Multiple technicians and now maintenance acknowledges they working in narrowing down the issue and may take up to a week to locate it. Call in if you are in the area and get a trouble ticket started so you'll be credited for the time your internet is slow/down... |

Thanks for the info - webpages often times aren't loading on the first try for me I get an error "server not found" but when I reload the page it comes right up. We have already been discussing this issue in » help me diagnose my line which seems to only effect the San Gabriel Valley with about 50% packet loss from San Francisco through the Monterey Park, CA server |

Calling Charter to attempt to get credits for this issue is not working for me. I just get blamed that it is my computer causing the issue. Quite a few of us are experiencing this issue - is there a trouble ticket # that we can call in about to report the issue? |

I live in the next city over (Alhambra), and I pretty much get t3/t4 timeouts throughout the day, sometimes even 5-10 per hour in the morning and afternoon. It usually stops at around 7pm, though I would still get a timeout or two maybe until 12am.
They sent 6 techs to my house within the past year and all I get is the typical "your signal is fine" and proceed to place the blame on the electrical grid back-feeding electricity into the modem. My house got cleared by a private electrician and the electric company saying there was no evidence of this. Then they do everything they can to not place the blame on themselves, instead they blamed squirrels, trees, air conditioners on the power grid, etc.
Called in again today, and they blamed my router. So I tested a direct connection with my Vaio laptop, my PC, Macbook Pro and I would still get t3 timeouts all while doing power cycles in between. (I once didn't connect the modem to any device and saw my modem stuck blinking on the upstream light) I swapped modems 3 times- the surfboard, the Arris, the cisco all get t3/t4 timeouts. I once called tech support and the representative said my modem has no logs of t3/t4 timeouts despite actually seeing it on the log. A higher level technician confirmed I was right. xD
My neighbors don't use charter so I can't gauge how their service is. One of the techs said this problem is very widespread in Temple City where nodes are almost at full capacity, whereas my area is maybe at 30-50%?
A couple years ago, Charter would always go down at around 9am on Sunday for 20 minutes to an hour, without fail. Then it would start dropping in the evenings until I phoned in 3 times and got a supervisor out who traced it to someone stealing service I believe. My internet was fine for a couple months after that. When I request the same thing again all I get is a "wait for a call within the next month". |

I had T3/T4 timeouts it turned out to be a squirrels that chewed the cable at the tap. It took several techs to finally resolve the issue. A senior tech came out and climbed up on the pole behind my house and found the damage. No other tech was willing to climb on the pole. They blamed it on all sorts of things including the modem. They all said my signal was fine. |

Corporate refunded me nearly half a year's worth of bills, gave me 3 heavily reduced months and a free upgrade for 2 years. Charter, for the most part, is run by complete and utter idiots. |

I wish Charter Direct was still on this forum. They were able to resolve issues fairly quickly. I wonder how extensive is the packet loss throughout the San Gabriel Valley - So far I know Alhambra, Monterey Park, Pasadena, Temple City is affected by this issue. I cannot maintain a reliable connection to Epix on my PS4 and VOIP calls are terrible quality. The odd thing is I used pingtest.net and it reports 0% packet loss when I test the San Francisco and Los Angeles servers. |

When I tested this morning I still had the 50% packet loss from San Francisco then my connection was being flakey this afternoon so I reboot the modem and ran the ping test again and discovered I had 0% packet loss. |
