[Internet] ARRIS Docsis 3.0 24x8 1.4 Gbps Cable Modem (SB6190)

»www.amazon.com/gp/produc ··· s0233-20

Is the SB6190 compatible as a bring your own modem option? Also would you get more then 8 downstream and 4 upstream channels with the 35/2 plan?

Website says:
32 download & 8 upload channels to future proof your modem as your Cable Internet Provider enhances capability.

So I am wondering if this would give me 16 downstream and 8 upstream on 35/2.

Thanks.

Thanks Think I will stick with my rented SBG6580. Was intrigued by the upstream and downstream channels on the one above.

Charter doesn't allow owned modems, so I would definitely wait for a resolution to the merger one way or another before investing in a modem like that. I would highly doubt that any new DOCSIS 3.1 packages under Charter will allow customer owned modems.

At your tier level there really isn't any advantage anyway at the moment....

I don't see a reason why anyone would need this modem with Brighthouse service. Even if you subscribe to the 300 Mbps tier (at their inflated price) you can use the 6183. While I'm sure this modem is impressive, unfortunately our provider still lags significantly in speed. As mixdup mentioned, it's probably best to wait until the Charter merger completes since we'll probably get a free modem from them (no rental fee) and buying a modem won't be as intriguing.
