Re: Bad Latency with Hitron CDA3 modem (URGENT...Crap latency...AVOID)

Ouch, that sure is some bad routing... Here's my routing with Rogers:

Tracing route to google-public-dns-a.google.com [8.8.8.8]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms router.asus.com [192.168.1.1]
2 * * * Request timed out.
3 12 ms 11 ms 13 ms 209.148.241.77
4 18 ms 22 ms 15 ms 69.63.248.217
5 12 ms 11 ms 11 ms 209.148.224.254
6 20 ms 14 ms 13 ms 72.14.222.87
7 13 ms 23 ms 16 ms 72.14.236.97
8 12 ms 18 ms 11 ms google-public-dns-a.google.com [8.8.8.8]

He's on Rogers ... You're on Teksavvy using Rogers hence the different routing and numbers.

He's not using the CDA3 modem and gets the typical 12 mS to the CMTS router (not the CMTS ... rogers has disabled pings on the CMTS recently)

The CDA3 modem pings about 25 mS to the CMTS router typically. Definitely a problem there.

Rogers does use dynamic routing and different paths through its network.

I misunderstood your previous post referring to being "on Rogers" and assumed since your packets take a similar route to TPIA routing over Rogers that you were with Teksavvy (since this is a Teksavvy forum )
