Re: [Equipment] New Panasonic dect SIP phone KX-TGP600We had an insanely productive and problem-free first day with our new phones, thanks to you all. We could not be more grateful. And yes, the 1:1 match is important for us now, and especially going forward.
We may be adding extensions, and please ... let us know if there's anything we can do to repay your effort and energy.
Again, thanks! |

Glad to hear the phone and service are working great for you! As Trev mentioned, tool points are a great way to help support the site, even if you don't use them (I have 10 of them just sitting idle in my account). Most of us here are happy to help others, and do so without repayment. After you've had a little time with Callcentric, make sure to submit a review about them as a provider. You can also add the KX-TGP600 as a piece of hardware that you have (click the link next to Ownership). Eventually hardware reviews will be available too, but not yet. |

I have been using KX-TGP550 with a few handsets for about four years now. It works fine more or less, but has some funky issues. I wonder if TGP600 system has them fixed. Here is the list of issues with TGP550 from the top of my head:
1. Conference features are not engineered right 1a. Only two parties can be conferenced in 1b. No ability to drop either party once connected 1c. If conference setup needs to be redone for whatever reason, i.e. second number has been misdialed, the first party must be called back, as there is no way to pick it up from the automatic hold it was put on by the phone 1d. DTMFs buttons are not working while in a conference call 1e. If one of conferenced in parties sends DTMFs, the phone takes first tone and plays for about 5-10 seconds 1d. Can't conference in calls already in progress
2. General menu navigation and especially response to pressing CID button is slow (about 1/2 a second). Browsing CID history and redialing is cumbersome. If you want to call last number dialed, you have to press five different buttons with significant lag between each press
3. Line selection is also as slow as CID and config only allows for numeric values for the line names. Same numeric only limitation applies to VoIP account IDs |

1. I can't speak in detail to the conference features, as I've never used them. I do believe there's still a limit of two parties (plus yourself) that can be conferenced together though.
2. I believe more data - CID, call history, etc. - is now stored on the handset. I can browse through missed calls with ease and no noticeable delay. Each handset gets a firmware update when there's a firmware update for the base, which tells me that the handsets themselves play a larger role in the system. It is still noticeable when the handset has to retrieve info from the base though, like a network setting (IP address, etc.).
3. Line selection is still handled by the base... I haven't noticed any performance issues on my 600 though; when I press the Talk button, I get a dial tone. The config does now allow alpha-numeric values for line names... so you can put a name or number, up to 15 characters IIRC. |

Per the documentation, it appears 1b and 1c are no longer an issue. I do know that there's still a 2 party limit (1a). |
