First, Sonic bundles internet service with their phone service (Fusion package) and you can't opt out even if you don't want a phone service. The taxes and fees for the phone service adds up quick (>$10).

Having had both AT&T and Sonic.net, I can assure you that AT&T telephone taxes are the same.
