Ad Blocker-Blocking Websites Might Be Violating European Privacy Lawsquote: The ad-blocking wars are getting ugly again. In the latest phase of the conflict, several high-traffic websites have started denying entry to users whenever they detect their browsers running ad-blocking extensions like uBlock Origin and Adblock Plus. These new ad-blocker-blocking scripts typically present offending readers with a choice: Either disable your blockers by whitelisting the site, or pay a small subscription fee to help keep the lights on.

Given the sorry state of ad security these days precisely because of sites and ad-server operators who simply refuse to vet their ad placement clients, I look at it this way: if sites block me from viewing content because of ad-blocking, I'll simply go elsewhere; if they don't block me from content, I'll stay and view their content but be free from scripted ads because of my ad-blocking. Either way, the ad-based infection vector is shut down. Until scripted ads - particularly rotating ads - are cleaned up by those responsible for channeling them to me, they represent a clear and present danger to my computer, and I'll do whatever it takes to block them, particularly the use of ad blocking. Full stop. -- The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money. -- A. de Tocqueville |

personally I see sites that block people with adblockers as the equal to a whore house that says "No Condoms". Sure you can take the risk but why should you? For your computer an adblocker is simply part of Safe Hex. -- Filan - Aurin Spellslinger - Pago - Team Legacy |

Use StartPage.com search to "find" the page you're looking for, then click the "Proxy" option if it's present. I've been doing this to access FoxNews.com sites since they blocked access from Tor and it works like a champ. |
