Re: [Equip] 2016 Xfinity/Comcast Modem Poll

Surfboard 6141 here since September 2014. It has been a fantastic modem. ... Arris TM822 for the phone line. Both owned by me.

As both devices are 8x4 ones, is there a reason why you're not just using the TM822G eMTA for both HSI and phone?

That's what I do with my owned TM822G.

I originally just had the 6141 so I wouldn't have to use the pos gateway Comcast give out and just used the Comcast provided gateway for the phone service. I bought the TM822 after about a month or two of that to get rid of the rental charge and just never bothered to move the internet service to it also. Makes it easy in the future to upgrade the internet side if I need to get a modem that supports more channels also.

I have a separate SB6141 from my phone modem because of (a) location in the house and (b) I update my internet modem far more often than I would the phone. It keeps costs down since I was able to get a very cheap TM722 that will last a while.

I've been throwing around the idea of getting a 6190, but I just don't think I would see $150 worth of benefits at this time.
