[ALL] Apple Airport on Cox network? Upgrade to new firmware

Apple released new firmware this week (on or about 5/25/2016) for their line of Airport routers including Express, Extreme, and Time Capsule. If you have any of these Apple Airport routers connected to your Cox cable modem, we advise upgrading to their new release. The firmware includes several IPv6 and DNS related fixes that should help with intermittent internet connectivity issues.

In case Cox can't post links to other parties, see link below. Anyone know the difference between 7.6.7 amd 7.7.7? Same (limited) firmware release notes.

I guess the fix is "Improves performance with an extended guest network" because "Fixed broken IPv6" is not complimentary enough. TT

7.6.7 and 7.7.7 are the same thing built for different platforms. And no, none of those notes mention the specific fixes that went in related to IPv6 and DNS but they are in there. We've confirmed this with Apple.

Additionally, if your Airport is configured as an Access Point (Bridge Mode) behind a router, the optional "Guest Network" feature isolates the guest traffic by tagging the packets over VLAN 1003. Previously this feature 'sort-of' worked but performance was very poor due to a packet loss bug. Now with Firmware Update 7.7.7 (7.6.7) the "Guest Network" over VLAN 1003 has the same performance as the native un-tagged network.

In this era of Internet-of-Things is it ever so important that you have available a separate wireless network isolated from all your other networks and devices.

Any word if patch was successful in correcting ISP related issues?
