Re: [Qwest] Upstream speeds, rate plans, bondingYou know, I had the exact same problem, my address only giving me the option to order 20mbps service while I know I was plenty close to handle 40/5. I signed up for the 20/.896 service to start, and same as you, quickly realized that the 896kbps upload is barely enough to cover TCP overhead, yet alone do anything intensive.
So I pleaded with the morons at talk2us, chat, and over the phone to have them have someone local review my line to see if it could be bumped. I got a couple reply's saying they had checked with the locals and their was nothing to do. So in one last ditch attempt I called sales, they offered me 20/2 bonded service. It would end up being worse on the download side, but slightly usable on the upload. Day of my appointment came and the tech called on the way out and was a bit confused about the order and I explained I can't use this connection without faster upload, explained to him my modem reported better signal strength (like yours) than you would need for 40/5 on a single line. He used his laptop and checked my signal levels without even coming out, and totally agreed there should be no problem doing 40/5 on a single line. He called me back later and said he got me upgraded to 40/5, no truck roll fee, no increase in price. In fact the credit sales gave me to cover the truck roll still went on the account, so I actually ended up getting free service for a month or so.
Anyway, that was about a year ago, connection trains at 50/5 and 0 problems. Just wish I was close enough for 40/20, lol
