Thanks for that... though security vulnerabilities of Flash I've long given up considering them newsworthy and instead mentally calculating how long I have to take my systems down to update them all ... again Regards |

Adobe have threatened to take down the direct download page (as cited) many times already and have not. I don't see any changes this time around. |

...works for me. I HATE the lightweight / web installer with a passion!

If I had a dollar for every Flash Security Advisory issued I could buy Adobe and kill Flash once and for all. I gave up and disabled it on all my systems. I'd rather watch the grass grow than deal with updating all my systems every few days. -- Ingenious will probably succeed. Stupid will probably fail. Where did you see that?
How do you like that. So they make you sign up for distribution4, only to then come back & say that too will end up in lala land. Upcoming Flash Player Distribution Changes FAQquote: Both of the pages will still be available after the decommissioning date, but will not contain any links to Flash Player downloads.
Now that's logical :scratchhead: (dang fleas). quote: I applied for a Flash Player distribution license within the last year, how do I access the new download page?
The new download page will be available soon (this page will be updated once the page is live). In order to access this new page, you will need an Adobe ID that is registered with the same email address that was used to sign up for the Flash Player license.

Oh. You should get your head checked out if you got fleas. For me, I itch due to allergies. Argh. I totally forgot about this Flash player update. Better late than never. :P -- Ant @ »AQFL.net and »AntFarm.home.dhs.org |

Most update Flash and AIR side-by-each so they're both current. Waiting for HTML5 to replace Flash like really bad. |

I am waiting for the real solution, and that is HTML5. Lets just hope that every web content will convert or use HTML5 very soon. As far as I know, YouTube is doing it. But lets hope that everyone gets on board with this conversion.
This way we do not have to put up with this ongoing BS.... |

The folks at ABP and others surely have block-lists for those well under way. Those will start to surface when HTML5 becomes de-facto. |

Re: Security Advisory for Adobe Flash Player APSA16-03My biggest Flash headache is that 2 of my systems are 8.1. Adobe won't let me update it. Used to be a page for standalone installers but I can't find it now. They tell me to go through Windows Update, which is like suckin' cement thru' a straw. Not an issue any more since all my systems are dual boot now (Mint or Fedora) so I just use Linux to go online and screw Windows Updates altogether. Linux updates are great. Everything, system, programs, FireFox, Flash, etc. get updated and installed simultaneously in a few minutes. Sweet! -- Ingenious will probably succeed. Stupid will probably fail. But really really stupid is guaranteed to succeed. |

said by DonoftheDead:Adobe won't let me update it..They tell me to go through Windows Update it depends on what you are updating. flash player is embedded in IE 11 so the only way to get the FP-update for IE 11 is to install the updates for IE 11. the same with the "chrome" browser.. if you are wanting to install flash player for the firefox browser, there are multiple ways of getting it from "adobe".. it is no big deal, and installing "windows updates" also is no big deal.. but yea, if you are running linux and you prefer using linux, that is great too.. |

The following works for me in Pale Moon, a Firefox fork. It may help you. Go to "about:config" and set 2 boolean settings...
media.autoplay.allowscripted;false media.autoplay.enabled;false
Note that when you open a Youtube URL (and some other media players), you'll have to nudge it along...
* click on the "Stop button" at the bottom left "| |" * when it turns into a triangle, pointing right, click on it again |
