It's not easy, but possible. Verizon has sold off wire centers in Upstate NY before. South Ripley comes to mind if my memory serves me..... |

If you look at the Rate Centers, Ripley and South Ripley both home to the same switch. South Ripley used to be a NY Tel CO. I think NY Tel wanted to replace the CO with an RT cabinet (it was that small). When the PSC said no, they sold the CO to an independent, who promptly replaced the CO with a Remote Terminal Cabinet... |

This was back in the early 90's. They were installing cell backup for CO's that did not have diversely routed trunks back then. |

What is this a map of? There are some markers on there that I think are supposed to be Verizon CO's, and they are NOT in the right location! And many of the address info is wrong on them. |

This map looks to be more oriented to showing Datacenter services. It seems the COs being mentioned on this map, are the ones where major Tier 1 and Co-Location POPs are found. That may explain why many VZ COs for example, are not seen, but are otherwise mentioned when a POP is available. |

It is a map of cherry picking to the extreme. My CO is on there with a Cablevision POP they run a business fiber to the premise from Megapath. Unfortunately VZ stopped FiOS one CO away. |

Zenit, That last one looks an Rate Center map, vs a Wire Center map. AFAIK Apex has one CO, but Cary has at least 2 and Raleigh has multiple..... It's a nice map though |
