[DSL] Question does a tech have to do the install.....

Hey all quick question I have had Bell DSL Fibe 5 for years and I'm thinking of switching to Teksavvy. My question is if I switch does a Tech have to come to do the setup or can I elect just to hook up the modem myself? I ask this because with my job there is no way I can be home to let them in.

Hi there,

Generally speaking a technician is required, however, if you have an existing phone service with Bell, we can do a remote activation of the DSL 6. Aside from that, all other packages / speed tiers require a tech on site to do the installation.

If you have any other questions or concerns, let us know!

Thank you for your quick reply. Unfortunately then looks like I'm stuck with Bell.

As a suggestion, you can always ask for someone over the age of 18 to stay and be there for the tech. For most areas now, we can request a morning or afternoon appointment (some areas can even get evening appointments too). Something to consider

Technically The Bell Guy has to sign off its hooked up though if its working we often call ahead and Ask if u need us to come or if its okay, Also when u switch To another provider we often have to Change The Slam Your On. Sometimes removing u from a 7330 putting u on a Oslam or Dslam/fslam. if the speed your purchasing is Not requiring more Etc..

I believe they can schedule technicians on the weekend. Though I understand your frustration, even though I'm available, I don't like entertaining technicians when a remote activation is possible :/
