Re: They are the problem.

You won't see that happen anywhere. They said EPB would do that to Comcast and so far it hasn't / won't happen.

True, nobody is going to get 100% of the market where there is competition. EPB is doing exceptionally well, but they "only" have half the market. I think they passed Comcast as the largest provider recently.

The highest take rate for a new entrant that I've heard in a competitive market is 80%.

In KC where there is a lot of competition TWC (largest KC area footprint) peaked at about 50% uptake of homes passed before GF arrived. There is probably no ISP in KC with over 50% now. GF appears to be in the 30%-35% range on KC uptake, which could possibly increase since they started in a big chunk of low income areas and more higher income areas recently coming online. But there's also much more competitive mid-tier rates recently from TWC and Comcast to slow down GF uptake.

With so many players, someone may not make it. CCI Gigabit in KC area has only about 20% uptake (about 20K customers of about 100K homes passed) and service/support not as good as other ISPs. Would think they are taking biggest hit as they compete with GF, TWC, ATT and apparently Comcast a bit.
