[trueSTREAM] Switching from AT&T to DSLx

I have had Uverse now for approximately 5 years. 2 years ago we went from a TV bundle to Internet only. Since then, discounts have dried up and data caps have kicked in. I am done.

I would like to switch to DSLx trueStream but I'm curious how to do so. Should I cancel att and the sign up? Or can I sign up and that automatically cancels Uverse, like when you switch cell providers?

I believe I have an EFT based on last promo price I accepted in February 2016 but honestly don't care at this point. Tired of paying 55/month for 12mpbs and data cap.

Secondary question, will DSLx come out for an install? My kids have killed one of my Uverse installed cat5 outlets and I think I'd like to move it out of the kid room all together.

Any help is appreciated, thank you!

In some cases, it's necessary to cancel the previous service first; in others, we've been able to run the new line while the old line is still in place. You could try placing the order now and if it stalls because of the U-verse still being in place, then cancel the U-verse and retry the order.

Regardless, getting trueSTREAM service from us does not automatically cancel your existing U-verse, so you'd need to contact AT&T with regards to canceling the U-verse.

We send out an install tech to your location, yes. So you could specify a different room than the kid room for the installer to set up the gateway, if you wish.

Thank you for your reply. My gateway is in my living room but they ran a cat 5 hookup from it to the kids room. I was hoping to relocate that run.

And I can buy the gateway to avoid the monthly rental fee? Does the gateway do wifi similar to atts?

Yes, when you place the order you can choose to purchase rather than lease. The gateway provided is an AT&T gateway so yes, the wifi is identical.

I don't believe the Cat 5 hookup you're describing is a standard part of the install so I couldn't make any promises about the installer redoing *that*, you'd have to bring it up with the install tech when he comes out.
