Frontier FIOS DRM (copy-once) - Much more now!Today (10-27-2016) Frontier has start flagging much more channels with DRM (copy-once). Verizon FIOS were only doing a few like some FOX and probably Premium Channels like HBO but now they are doing a lot more. I am in Southern Californian and another person is in Texas having the same issue. My guess is that it was a full rollout. |

Regarding MPSPAN "do not copy". I use HDHomeRum Prime with Cable Card. It is a Network Turner (3). The Turner itself is considered the copy-once device. If you want to "stream" to a device connected to your TV like the Apple TV that is considered a copy device even though you are just streaming. So the Apple TV must support the DRM in the Apple TV. This does not even consider the idea of a DVR. So the TIVO Mini needs to support the DRM for it to work. My understanding is the the TIVO App (I think on the Amazon Fire TV) does not support streaming of copy-once (DRM) channels. Please correct me if I am wrong. Of course I would need a TVIO App for the Apple TV. I would seriously consider a TIVO if there was a Apple TV App that worked with copy-once channels. |

FL according to HD Homerun. All HBO and Fox channels are DRM
I will send a note to the FCC and see what options are available if any.
Will have to see if this impacts my Tivo Bolt App out of home |

Yes. I noticed this as well and I'm pissed. Frontier just changed this some time in the last couple days for sure in the Dallas area. I've been with Verizon for years with a cablecard and no problems and all of a sudden today I can't watch my shows using my HDHomeRun PRIME. They may have just put the nail in the coffin as far as I'm concerned. My only other option is TWC which isn't better for CCI flags but at least the internet is cheaper. |

Frontier is out to mess with us CableCard users , I'm loosing the channels completely including TCM, SCIFI , and FOX channels. waiting for June of next year , just keeping the internet. I love Netflix , Hulu , HBOgo and Amazon Prime. they are pusing more and more people to cut that cord. business in america 21st century . |

Came home to most of my channels no longer working through HDHomerun Prime. Ran a channel scan, everything came up DRM. Went straight to the phone and had them discontinue the TV package. Why pay for something I can't use? They ran me around retentions for a bit and finally gave in. Cut my bill in half, and I'll just go the SlingTV route. |

Former Verizon FIOS customer on the Ultimate TV package. Previously, only the HBO, Cinemax, and a few FOX channels were protected. Now, almost all the channels are protected (marked with * on list below). I can't find any real logic to their channel selection. It's like someone just threw darts at a board. Their larger selection of non-protected channels was the only reason I stayed with FIOS over the years. Will be canceling both internet and TV and going to cable now. While cable is also locked down, at least it's cheaper in my area for similar speeds.

Very glad I cancelled TV with them, as I had TiVo boxes that would have been useless. Service has gotten so bad I am considering dropping FiOS in favor of 300 Mb/s from Charter for less money. |

FYI.. TiVo and the Mini work with DRM. Everything has to support the protected path. That is why the Android App may not work because it may not support it. I have not used the Android App or TiVo. But familiar with it because I use the HDHomeRun Prime and familiar with the problems with DRM. |

The Tivo Bolt and the app work fine.
The issue is you cannot live stream to the app on DRM protected channels.
I have a slingbox for that purpose.
I purchased the bolt for the live streaming capabilities.
I did send a letter voicing my opinion on DRM
My two HD Home Run's are useless now until they can find the fix. |

HD Homerun prime user also affected by these recent changes. I'm about 3.5 months away from the end of my contract, anyone know if this change would allow me to avoid my ETF fee if I should chose to go with a Plan-B? |

Your ETF should not be very much now. I don't think the change is warranted for them to let you out of contract. |

Same thing here in Long Beach, CA. I am also a HD Homerun Prime user. I knew nothing good would come from the Frontier acquisition. I previously had Charter and DRM wasn't an issue with them. Does anyone know if they have changed their policy? I attached my channel scan showing the DRM channels. I agree that there doesn't seem to be any logic to what they did. I have called them a few times and I can't get to anyone that has any idea about this issue. I'm going to assume they knew what they were doing and cancel. |

Some of you may need to re-pair your Cablecards with your devices. I had similar issues after swapping a Cablecard from an ATI DCT to a Happague. The card was activated but I lost a lot of channels. I did a scan right now and the only channel DRM'd was buzzer beater, while a few weeks ago after I initially repaired the usual Fox + HBO was DRM'd. |

Just did a SCAN and all my channels including FOX no longer have DRM Flag. I do not subscribe to Premium Channels like HBO so not sure about that. But this is HUGE if this is permanent. |

Fort Worth, TX. I previously cancelled service, but they haven't disconnected yet. Just did a rescan and they dropped DRM from all channels in my TV plan. Interesting but too late. Can't trust them. |

Plano, TX (North Dallas) and can confirm. I was the Anon poster above - went and registered just because of this thread! Was totally locked out in my HDHR Prime last week (except for basic OTA type channels being still open). Went and did a channel scan today and I now have 441 channels available to me. I also do not subscribe to that level of service so I figure this HAS to be a mistake that they will soon rectify. I can't imagine that they will leave it this way.
I too had put in a TV cancellation on Friday which they still show as in-progress so my service hasn't been modified yet. So in the meantime, I have full DRM free TV service that I guess I'll enjoy while it lasts. |

Probably just don't know what they are doing.
Accidentally added DRM to a bunch of basic channels.
Got calls from people without paired cards that they couldn't get channels they subscribed to.
Disabled DRM on all channels to fix it.
HBO, etc. will get on their case (and explain what the Copy Once bit is for) and they will eventually go back to having it on for the channels that require it.
Just my guess, but that is what it looks like. |
