We're getting closer to retail... Too bad the CM1000 only has a Single GigE port. |

Oooh very exciting! I wonder what hardware specs it's gonna have. I considered going with a Linksys modem, but I've heard from people using those other D3 modems that were released earlier that their UI's are still being modified to lock out certain screens. I don't like that. I was hoping that practice would have stopped once Belkin took over and Cisco was no longer in the picture. |

Out of stock on Amazon $179.99 showing for price. |
|

So about $195 for modem after tax. Another $150+ for high end router. I originally planned on swapping in my own equipment, but I think I may keep the modem & R8000 router Comcast provides at $10 a month. For now, it seems like a decent deal.
Plus who know what services will be available in 3 yrs when my contract is up. Maybe fiber or something else with different tech will be a better option by then. |

Netgear usually does bundles on amazon with routers+modems for slightly less than the total price otherwise. You just have to buy them together through the specific combo link.
for example the Orbi is $399, but the CM600 bundle is only $469. I suspect they'll do something similar once it is in stock. |

it's all one SOC Broadcom BCM3390. Outside that you have multiple sourced RAM/Flash. |

Indeed is a Broadcom chip And it has 128MB flash and 256MB Ram though off the top don't remember the vendor for memory, not like those matter too much. The size is identical to the CM600/CM700 also. |

What I like about the CM-600 and I think the 700 is the same way is that the LED's are not blinding or lighting up your whole house like the 6190 does.
I have a feeling the CM1000 will be the same in this regard. |

I can confirm the LED's are identical to the other two Short of the base being ever so slightly larger and the goldish stripe (which is just a sticker that on the other two models is black) they are nearly identical. Size wise it's like the CM600 though. Side by side they look the same from the front minus the slightly different color. |

FYI release date is 12/13!
Quick, everyone buy a 3.1 modem.
Be interesting to see what happens with prices when another vendor releases. |
|

I think all the first gen D3.1 modems will all be pretty close to the same price. Say within $10 of each other. I'd like to be wrong, but.... I'm personally going to rent the first gen D3.1 modem, and then see what the 2nd gen brings with it. |

Yes, thanks for the heads-up. The next one to be released should be the ARRIS SB8200.   EDIT: So who called that? I had read originally that the first D3.1 modems would be priced about $50 more than comparable 32x8 D3.0 models. Given that the NETGEAR CM700 is currently price at $129.99 and the CM1000 is currently shown at $179.99, then that was a good guess! |

said by southerndoc:I'm hoping Technicolor releases their TC4400 soon. Technicolor, to this point, has not seemed to be interested in going through the retail cable modem process with most MSOs (rather, they have apparently preferred to sell direct to the MSO), nor opening a retail sales channel. Their "marketing" sheets talk about MSO, not retail, sales. I suspect the TC4400 will remain, for at least some time, a MSO only device (less profit per box, but also less expense for dealing with the entire retail channel; presumably their people have done the math and made some decisions). |
