No surprise. Crazy. Those "surcharges" are the biggest BS ever...except for maybe data caps.

My bill said, "On or around 1/1/17 your provisioned internet speeds will be increased to 60Mbps downstream and your monthly usage allowance will increase to 400GB.", "Local Broadcast Station Surcharge will increase $1.61." and, "with your next bill, or at the end of your promotion, the rate for Internet service will increase $5.04."

I have Prime Plus HSI, so that usage cap increase is likely due to that; otherwise the same.

Local channel surcharges are not BS. Mediacom tried to fight this with Sinclair years ago and subscribers sided with the broadcaster overwhelmingly by ditching Mediacom service. After that a decision was made to simply pass the cost of any increase to subscribers without fighting it. Therefore for years now that fee has steadily grown and will continue to do so.

Data caps are BS. We all agree.

Customers should NOT be forced to pay for local channels, especially since they can be had free over the air. A surcharge of around $10 a month for locals IS ridiculous. MC and other cable companies need to make local channels optional.

Personally I am fed up with constant increases EVERY year for TV service. Especially paying for dozens of channels we never watch. It has gotten to the point where TV service is no longer worth what it costs. I am not blaming MC as all TV providers (Dish, DTV) do the same increases EVERY year. And yes it IS B.S..........

Hello Everyone, just to clarify and make sure everyone is aware of the changes, the surcharges will increase with your next billing statement and once you reset your modem the new provisioned speeds should be active. The rate changes directly tied to your internet and cable service will take place with your next bill if you are paying the standard full price rates, or if you are on a promotional package, the charges will appear when your promotion ends.

We have yearly struggles with local channel rate increases in across our serviced areas. Even though these are local stations, they are owned by the Network Broadcast corporations that own the affiliate networks, which allows them to charge outrageous amounts of money to carry the stations that are free over the air. We are always reluctant to raise our prices, especially when these conglomerates are charging more money for the same content, however due to the lack of Federal regulation these Network Broadcast corporations have free reign when it comes to what they charge. Mediacom is in favor of the a la carte channel model where our customer can pick and choose what channels they want to see and which ones they don't. However, these Network Broadcast Corporations will not allow us to offer single channels to our customers without bundling with the affiliate networks and adhering to strict regional broadcast guidelines. We hope this changes in the future, and will continue fighting to stop these rate increases.

Excuses.... Mediacom can get rid of the dirty under the line fees. You can faslely advertise a cheaper price for TV service when it's not cheaper.

All the more reason Local Channel Surcharges ARE BULLSH@$! Subscribers sided with their best interest by making certain they had their local channels. For as long as that went on it's not acceptable to walk away from negotiations without making a deal.

That is the most blatant act of disrespect and slap in the face to Mediacom Customers I've ever seen! To admit that Mediacom didn't do right by their customers to begin with, then to blame the customers for their failings, and to finally say decision was made to simply pass cost increase to customers...like that is what we all have become desensitized to even payback because customers did leave when it went on & on...this is too much!
That gives them the ability to raise cost anytime for any reason and blame it on that! Smooth move for a greedy corporate snake! Why are you Anonymous @Anon77b99. This makes me furious!!

Right, but they have a secret weapon to combat it. Data caps.
