It's not so bold when one considers that I am between jobs and need to cut expenses drastically where I can. And I don't have as much time for TV now anyways.

Well, OTA is your least expensive option. But if you want multi-room/TV accessibility there is going to be some costs for equipment, or wiring.
TiVO OTA, Tablo and others offer this.
