Re: [WiFi] Modem Frustration - Which One to Get?? Options

said by Devious:

What if you are going out of town for a weekend or going on vacation for an extended period and want to turn off the network while you are gone without having to pull the power cord out of the wall?

I've heard of odd things happening when people power off their modems for long duration, like it getting unprovisioned.

Really?

I had my 5370 turned off for about a month one time without issue.

Perhaps it was a longer period that people had issues.

It's my understanding that some MSO's just play funny games in some areas.

and I'd keep my modem powered on 24/7 just in case, it's like it's drawing much power anyway.

yeah, I've had the same thing happen to spare cablecards where after a certain number of weeks it becomes deauthorized if not in contact with the cable system.
