Teksavvy Price Drops

Looks like Teksavvy dropped prices today. Now these are are reasonable drops. Finally seeing the higher tiers at incumbent level pricing:

Cable Packages
5/1 Unlimited: $34.95
15/1 Unlimited: $49.95
30/5 Unlimited: $52.95
65/10 Unlimited: $59.95
100/10 Unlimited: $63.95
250/20 Unlimited: $89.95

Cable. Sorry, didn't mention that.

I think they dropped priced on both, but I don't bother looking at DSL at all because of the fact I can't get more than 1.5Mbps in my area.

I figured it was cable by the speed tiers but was just clarifying for others and figured someone would ask sooner or later. lol

Thanks for the update!!

In Québec, in the Cogeco land, 40/10 unlimited is 48.95$... 1$ more than what I'm paying Ebox for 250 GB.

That's interesting.

Isn't 65/10 actually 60/10? Given it's rCable.

They are probably using 100/10 for 65/10.

Guessing related to the rate of the tariff of 60 vs 100, that or just providing something different than others.

The tariff for "official" 60/10 is $5 more than 100/10, so it's more economical to use a 100/10 connection and shape it down to an unofficial 65/10.

Except that Teksavvy requires an expensive 24 channel modem for 65/10 or 100/10 service. You can use an 8 channel modem for Start's 60/10 service.

The promo hasn't ended. The "three months free" part of the promo has.

Wouldn't say they are expensive, only that it would have to be purchased and not a rental included in the cost. At least not drastically more expensive than purchasing any other equipment.

Personally prefer purchasing my equipment over a rental anyways (though also understand not everyone feels the same).

If you already own a capable modem for 60/10, why bother with a new modem for 65/10? I know Teksavvy promoted the 100/10 plan in the past and only provisioned 60/10 on special request, because to them the cost was the same. But try selling a friend on service with a TPIA and it's confusing already.

What you save with Teksavvey for service will pay off paying for the modem in a few months time compared to the incumbent

Now if only My wife can understand this so i can switch but no paying up front is bad grumble grumble

My wife expects pretty much perfect infrastructure, and by and large that is what she gets. However, one condition for that is that she not question my (completely reasonable) spending on achieving that.

Speedboost.

If you're technically on a 100/10 profile, wouldn't you theoretically get some really, really fast burst speeds?

(Not that I'm saying that justifies the cost of a modem, but it is a factor.)

You can reduce the amount you pay up front by going rent to own on the modem.

Rogers disables Speedboost for independents.

Not only that, Rogers also overprovisions theirs unfairly over TPIA's. 100/10 on Rogers is like 130/11, 250/20 is like 320/22 or something like that.

People have tested it many times, its not a brief speedboost but a permanent overprovision.

id be happy at 30/5 w/no speedboost for low $40's w/the 400gb limit the way start and tsi had metered it b4.
imo that tier is a rip from all the providers for users that dont need unlimited but 200gb is too low. waiting for the access rates in spring to see if those prices will drop.
