[Chat] Night sky tonight

jopfef posted : I was just outside, and it's clear and cool out tonight. Looked up in the sky, and saw the waxing moon with a bright star above it, with another little tiny red star to the left and above the bright star. This is facing southeast. Unfortunately, my camera needs to be shipped to Nikon for repairs, so I couldn't get a good picture. And forget the cell phone for a night sky picture. :p

So I hunted online, and this is what I found.

[att=1]

I figured the tiny red star was Mars, but couldn't figure out what the other really bright star was. It's Venus. I've never seen a star so bright before. I keep going outside to look at the moon and the two stars. Just really cool looking at them. :)
<TABLE WIDTH=96% align=center border=0 CELLPADDING=4">
