It is. The cost of living disparity is amazing even over relatively short distances. I moved from Northern VA to Fayettevillen NC and took a $20K pay cut, but was not only able to survive on one income, but put a little bit aside. Moved back to southern MD, picked up a bit over $20K and absolutely need that second income again. If I had not disliked Fayetteville so much I would move back just to save money.
