That gun is hammerless, yes? I've never owned or handled a gun. I just watch too many American action thrillers I will post something soon. |

Yes, it is 'hammerless' (it doesn't have a hammer that you can handle). That little square part in the middle is the hammer that strikes the firing pin. |

OK! Here is my submission. Sorry for the delay. This should be an easy one. I will be away from Winnipeg for a week's vacation starting March 29 so if there are no correct guesses by the 28th I will post the answer as I will have no internet access (self induced) where I am going. I plan on being the ultimate beach bum, severing all ties with communication technology till my return on April 5. |

They are both sea snail shells, but the one I posted is indeed a cowrie/cowry. |

Maybe a few hints as to size? |
|
| |
OK, here are some hints: Image left to right is about 1/4 inch (6 mm), but it comes in larger and smaller sizes. Fairly common. Hope this helps you get it together! |

Well, at least in my view, Popster27's image was a page back and also behind a guess and response (on this page) to the previous image. I clicked (several times in several days) on the last page (this page) of the thread and had no reason to look back to page 92. Having now looked at the image, It doesn't look familiar to me at all. Using the "helps you get it together" clue, If I had to guess.... it looks like pliers of some sort--sort of... still guessing maybe found in a tackle-box or electrical tool box. Hell, I don't have a clue... |
|
| |
Not pliers, not usually in a toolbox. Whole object about 3/4 inches wide. |

Would this be where two halves of the object come together? |
|
| |
It's where the two SIDES of the object come together. |

Sorry about the delay people. Busy at work and prepping my meteorite display for Yuri's Night at the Manitoba Museum this evening. Yuri Gagarin was the first man in space and many countries/cities celebrate that historical event by hosting astronomy themed parties. My display has been at the Museum for the last 6 years, each April 12th, and is one of the highlights of the evening. Since I allow people to handle the specimens, it has been dubbed the Meteorite Petting Zoo. |

I apologise once again. It has been pretty bad here with weather changes and the nasty bugs going around. I caught a fought a nasty cold. As soon as I recovered from that I caught another. Add to that I am working the night shift it gives me no time, or pleasure, to pick up a camera.
Can someone else post something to keep this going? Anyone can jump in at any time and post. |
|
| |
Sorry to hear you were under the weather, rcroning. 'Cause I'm retired and have a lot of time on my hands, I'll fill the gap. This one is different. The picture is a handful of sand from Joshua Tree National Park. I saw something sparkling in the sun and shot this to try and figure out what it was. The object of interest is the little hexagons. They are not natural, and they don't belong in the desert. Took me a while to figure out, then it was so obvious! (Sorry for the poor quality. This was hand held and the only image I made.) |

Very unusual!! But of course the sense of humour kicks in so I will say "petrified snowflakes." |

I would also guess confetti but paper would not last long in the desert.
My best guess is plastic sequins; those shiny little things they use on clothing.
Now for some brandy, honey and hot milk and back to bed. |
|
| |
Not petrified snowflakes or confetti. Not plastic sequins either, but you are getting closer. Think small: sand, not gravel. |
