[Rant] So sick of Satt / Cable Companies....

I remember watching games with my grandpa without corp thugs telling me what I can watch and what I can't watch.

They are like kiddiegarden kids fighting over chewing gum fighting for who shows what and if they don't agree the only person that looses out is the consumer.

They charge outrages prices for this, and were being told what to watch or if we never made a deal your screwed and your not getting it.

I am talking about the Dodgers / time warner cable and / directv.

Yes corp gangsters / thugs = crime bosses.

What happened to old days of over the air free tv?

It's sad we live in this day in age where we have corps telling us, while we PAY for THEIR service and they control what we watch.

Do we live in USA or Germany?

All we hear are is excuses and no fixing, I am tired of it. It's old.

What we need is some law enforcement to take out the modern gangsters.

We live in the USA, Germany actually has the balls to regulate corporations.

But I have honestly thought that we needed laws that would permit OTA stations in a team's market to show any game that is not on an OTA feed already. I think in any market EVERYONE should be able to watch a game from that market without a subscription.

Edit: The only possibility to request an exemption to the OTA law I said should exist, would be if the team used ZERO tax dollars and got ZERO tax breaks on their stadium.

And by zero tax dollars i mean zero, no local, state or federal.

You should be mad at the Dodgers for signing the deal with Fox SportsNet. I'm sure they could've struck a deal with one of the local OTA channels to broadcast the games. For much, much, much less.

You're confusing the good old days when sports were sports played for you're pleasure vs. now when sports (all major sports NASCAR, football, basketball, baseball) are sports in name only and in reality are nothing but big corporate interest looking only at the bottom line.
The loosing team is the one that pays to watch their crap.

Blame the seller, by which I mean the sports team's management. They sold the broadcast rights and presumably got more money for an exclusive deal.

Professional means getting paid; professional sports always were and always will be a business first. I know of three professional sports leagus that went under. The NY Cosmos along with the entire league went under. They went form red hot to diddly squat in three short years.

As for baseball most games were not on any TV. Maybe 30 if I remember correctly. Defiantly not every game as the Mets are now with live streaming on their own network. Cut MLB out of the picture and got in bed with Comcast/NBC.

Years ago, the Yankees broadcast home games on WPIX. You could watch Sunday doubleheaders.

The Dodgers and Giants might have broadcasted also. They all were on the radio.

You forgot MLB's Antitrust Exemption.

Last I checked, Pay TV is Interstate Commerce...

OMG no; the New Jersey Giants and Jets built a billion dollar stadium with zero pork and all games are on broadcast TV now. Don't give them any ideas.

That has to do with the inner workings of baseball not forcing them to give away the product. Owners in a league can conspire for the good of the league. No one can just buy a team, they have to be approved by a percent of the other owners.

I don't mind paying or it either my biggest complaint was I wish there was more content like back in the 90s when there was tones of stuff to watch and it was actually exciting to have cable. Now its all crap and very few shows worth watching.

All that's left on conventional TV now are reality TV programs and reruns..

Thats because all the producers produce with one thing in mind. Thats a award. You dont win awards based on the movies being any dam good anymore. You win awards based on how much you are pushing a agenda. First rule of thumb in Hollywood these days is you have to include gays, immigrants and mixed marriages. When producers go into producing movies and shows based on agendas they get lost on actually producing content. Show me a movies that doesnt include one of the three as a main character and you will have a movie or show that doesnt stand a chance at winning a award. All based on a agenda.

That got 2 to 6 for La la land, Which did you think was better? If you dont see a agenda being pushed in 99 percent of programming produced today your just blind. »www.conservapedia.com/Es ··· TV_Shows

You think you have it bad? Here in Canada they don't allow us to watch U.S. networks and force us to see boring canadian TV because u.s. networks don't have "canadian content" (what the hell is that anyways?).

I live in a dictatorship worse than Cuba or China because in both countries people have satellite tv dishes and watch whatever they want. Here in Canada it's illegal to have a directTV or DISH satellite. Go to Cuba and watch every 5th house with a satellite dish in their rooftops.

Probably not, but the kangaroo courts in Canada would have to jail you if you hear something "offensive" on US TV and support US TV.

You made that up. Does your Queen know about this?

Point of order; the B.S. with US TV is all business B.S. no government B.S. necessary.

Interesting, since if I wanted to move to Canuckistan, the only major Cable/Sat US Networks I'd be missing out on are Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network.

Both Bell TV and Shaw Direct have ABC, CBS, NBC & Fox (Broadcast) available.

Note To Mods: Canuckistan is a normal and common nickname for Canada, amongst Canadians.
