@BlimmerE38FN, So what is the current state of this modem? Is the initial latency issue completely resolved? Have they (Intel / Arris) issued a fix to cover the DDOS issue that was reported? |

What he said. LOL. Just keep reviewing the forums here for updates. All this is being looked at by Arris and Intel. As for fixes. Who knows. Only they know. Netdog will post here when he can and if he can about updates. I wouldn't hold your breath for too long. It's going to take some time. I recommend getting into a SB 6183 or SB 8200 modem while you wait. I am asking everyone their opinion. Here is my situation: I replaced my 6190 with a 6183 while waiting for Arris to ship me a brand new 6190. Would you keep the 6190?, sell it on Ebay/Amazon?, or something else? All answers welcome. BTW I am on Cox communications in Oklahoma City. |

I wouldn't keep it to use it. What you do with it though depends on your circumstances. You might find it hard to sell it shortly though. |

I sold my SB6190 on eBay in January (before DoS discovery) and was upfront about the publicized latency issues - didn't stop someone from paying me $80 for the modem. I then bought a Netgear CM600 24x8 DOCSIS 3.0 modem for $90 on sale at Newegg. The CM600 was a noticeable improvement. I kinda wanted an Arris SB8200/CM8200 but I didn't want to be a beta tester again for a new modem  I'll get one when there is DOCSIS 3.1 service in my area. |

Yeah I hope people stop buying this modem, and the one's who still have it currently. If you can somehow get yourself another modem, do it. To much time has already been spent on this modem, and enough being tester's for a modem that has been out a good while now. I'm honestly VERY happy I returned this modem within a month of owning it, when it was first released. Because I'm pretty sure I was one of the first to notice the latency issue with this modem, me, and NetDog even discussed this a bit a while back. As around the time I purchased this modem, I was having internet issue's. So I was running pingplotter 24/7 for multiple week's, and noticed the often spikes the modem itself was logging. Which I ended up pointing it out on the forums here, and ran into NetDog . Which he ended up having it lab tested back then, and was quick to see the issue happening. It's sad at this point the modem is still a headache for most people using it. |
