said by vaxvms:Anyone got NE spring photos or stories to share? We have a 600ft gravel driveway. My annual right of spring is raking the stone off the grass and back onto the driveway. It is especially bad this year because of the last snow storm, warm so the ground was not frozen and the snow was extremely heavy. Plow guy did a lot of damage. But now things are greening up and the black flies are out. It has been raining all day and will continue throughout tomorrow. We need the rain so that is good. /tom |

I stopped by the farm yesterday for some pix. A fifth lamb showed up in the last week. Fiona the Highland Cow (Heeland Coo) is alone now, her buddy Scotty was put down over the winter. One of the creepy goats kept getting in the picture so I added the best one. I don't know what it is but goats just weird me out. The Community Garden spaces are starting to get cleaned up, probably more will happen over the weekend. |

Goats creep me out too. They remind of a clown, just stare at you with this blank expression. Lately I've noticed people letting their goats roam freely; goats love to chew on anything and everything. I found two of them in my 2015 van eating my tools, wiring, and dielectric grease! at least they will be waterproofed.. |

Here are a few! The Bluebirds are all around now and we just saw our first hummingbird on Sunday. The field picture was taken Tuesday night. |

Pink tree, yellow flowers, purple things. Plenty of clean-up left. Lettuce, spinach, beans, yellow/green squash and spices planted. Tomatoes on Mother's Day. Probably buy a pepper too. |

Thanks! For christmas I bought my wife the Bird Photo Booth, it has a motion activated camera so you can get all types of great bird pictures. Those are hives, we just jumped into the beekeeping world. We installed the bees two weeks ago. |

Re: [Fun] Spring iz sprungAfter a lovely day of driving MOM around for errands, I stopped by the fahm. The lambs are getting bigger! There is a sand sculpture above where I was digging last October! If I had only thought of that. The Community Gardens are all in good order showing the efforts of 24 people with more ambition than me. |

Bunnies. I got a buncha Bunnies. I have a deal with the Squirrels: I feed you pizza crust and french fries, you don't do any damage. I tried to make a deal with the Bunnies: Don't eat my garden, I won't eat you. I don't speak fluent Bunny and they are not listening to me. I'm trying to keep this from becoming a violent confrontation. See how the Bunny is out of center in the photo? I do much better with a .22. Squash is doing well, tomatoes are in. |

We have an inside bunny here [a Palomino, about twice the size of that one] who is a lot of fun. Any critter who eats junk mail [and the occasional organic blue flaxseed tortilla chip] is a friend of mine. We also have outside bunnies [seem to have been a bumper crop the last two seasons]. The outside bunnies haven't done any damage yet. If they cause problems, I have a jar of tikka masala sauce in the cupboard. In your case, I think the deal you offered is fair. Eat a couple of them and maybe they'll stop eating your stuff.
The one thing I can't get used to about rabbits is the disapproving glare when you're eating meat. The cats were always supportive [to the point of asking for samples; have to make sure the human is getting good food]. |

I blew off the Sheep Festival last Sunday @ » taylorbrayfarm.org/because I was a bit frayed from Home and Work. I don't sign up to volunteer because I never know what is going to happen at Motel Happy as Hell on the Beach. I usually pick up trash from the marsh and give an an informal presentation. Taylor-Bray Farm Day Saturday, June 24 - Noon to 3:00 PM OK. Ya got me. I'll try to stop by and do my bit and take some pix too. A couple pix from the recent archives. |
