10GB and then 3G speeds

I asked Verizon how much data I would get if I added it to my new unlimited plan and got this response
quote:
Agent: I'll be happy to help you with more information about our devices. You can go ahead with your questions when you are ready!
You: If I add the SmartHub to my new unlimited plan, how does data allotment work?
Agent: The SmartHub would be considered a Mobile hotspot, so usage will be at 4G speeds for the first 10 GB then drop to 3G speeds.

A quick Google search says between 7mbps and 50 mbps roughly.. That doesn't narrow it down at all.

Everything that I have gathered has stated around 512Kbps is the throttle point after 10GB.

600kbps is the official speed after the first 10GB for hotspots on verizon.

So this new SmartHub would get 10GB and then 600kbps.. That doesn't seem like a good solution to connect up to 200 devices to, or a wireline replacement option.

I guess it would be acceptable for people in rural areas, especially since the landline portion would route emergency calls like a landline unlike the previous units which put it through like a cell call.

I would not be dropping my 75Meg DSL connection for this though.

Verizon 3G is CDMA. 3.1meg for the WHOLE channel. When I had an EVDO REV A Iphone 4S with them I never got over 768K

Dead on arrival due to the 4G to 3G downgrade after 10GB

You can always put it on a larger dedicated plan IIRC it's $150/mo for 40GB. then just $15/GB thereafter.

My question about this, and the Unlimited plan in general, is can one use Popdata (unlimited bandwidth for 30 minutes or 1 hour) or otherwise buy additional additional high-speed data after the 10GB have been exhausted?

No not currently that's only offered on the tiered plans. Unless something's changed recently. No one could ever use more than Unlimited* (*only 10GB).
