[Flooring] Carpet tape a solution ?

One of my attention-seeking cats decided that he needed access to my closed BR door. He managed to pull loose and fray a 2" x 5" wide section of the hall carpet where it meets the thresh hold of (different) BR carpeting. Now that it's loose, they keep messing with it.

I've tried hamming that section back on the wooden strip with nails that's under the carpet but it doesn't hold.

Would double-sided carpet tape be a solution ? I do need to be able to vacuum over the thresh hold. I've tried Gorilla tape but it doesn't stick well on the carpeting. If carpet tape is a good choice, would someone kindly recommend a brand or two, please ? Headache from looking on Amazon.

Thanks very much. FWIW, I have a PhD in Klutz and am no good with tools.

Can't offer advice on the tape just sympathy for your situation.
In my case it was the veneer pulled lose from the bottom of the doors.

Tape will not help.

Upload pictures if you want a definitive answer.

Carpet installers use a tape that is covered in hot glue. They have a special iron that fits between the two pieces of carpet, they slowly move it through the gap, melting the glue as it goes. Once that is done, that seam is invisible. You have seams all over the house that you can't see, because they did this when they installed the carpet.

Here's a vid that shows it in action, starting at 2:35:

Get a heavy rubber backed entry mat as wide as the space, and put it over the damaged section. Prob gota find a thin one to make it under the door.

Good idea ! But -- how would I keep it affixed ? Pesky cats will pull at/under it. Thanks.

Recently purchased these. Both work equally well.

you're doing right, just try stronger wider doublesided tape first. $10. any local hardware store should have some. another alternative, iffy, is just regular silicone caulking $5., which will enter into the weave of the carpet bottom etc.

then, in addition, try saturating that area with something your cats dislike - mothball etc ??? - to keep they repelled. $5.

Probably not. Cats have sharp teeth and claws and would probably chew their way out of it in no time.

...

Oh, to fix the carpet. Nah, it won't work there either.
