I often use a VPN since I have to use WiFi outside my home regularly. Wouldn't want to lose that.
China so poorly that it's not even funny. There are stores in Shenzhen that sell pre-configured wifi VPN boxes for services in Hong Kong - you plug it into your internet connection, and it's totally transparent, gives you a new wifi access point and it's international. We have 4 employees in China (Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Kunshan, Wuxi) that are buyers and product engineers that work with vendors - all 4 of them use VPN both to our office in Canada (which gives them internet access "out" through our fiber here), as well as the little "hong kong boxes" for when they are just using Skype, Sharepoint, VOIP calls, etc -- so if that's the extent to which these countries actually "ban" VPN usage, it's pretty much a joke. Treated about the same as driving 110km/h in a 100km/h zone here.
