WOW service in Warren Mi

Ive just moved to Warren Mi and I currently have comcast. The WOW guys have been around but from reading around the internet WOWs service can be less than great in some areas.

I game, I work from home a lot and I stream a lot of video. I need a good reliable internet connection. As much as I dislike comcast the quality and reliability of the product they provide has always been excellent.

when I read about WOW I hear a lot about connection drops, or internet slowing during peak hours. Old outdated equipment...etc. A ton of extra fees on bills, charging for service calls and poor customer service....

Is this true or should I give WOW a try because they do have better prices for faster internet where I am and it would be nice to not have to give comcast anymore of my money.

I'm in Warren also. Although it's been many years since I had Comcast, I would recommend WOW, especially if you can get a better price. The internet service has been pretty solid, in the many years I've had WOW. And no caps.

I live in Warren as well. I left Comcast for WOW 15 years ago. The ONLY problem I had within those 15 years was poor connection problems last summer. I'm able to diagnose those type of things myself to make sure if it's on my end or not prior to calling WOW support and it ended up being a problem with my interior wiring. I fixed that and I have been back to rock solid since. If I would have called Wow's tech service, I would have expected them to charge me for a service call for diagnosing and fixing that problem if they sent someone out. Others complain when that happens but that's how they all work. If it's on Wow's end, anything all the way up to the connection on your house, Wow will repair it free of charge, since they own that part of it. Anything beyond that and into your home, is your responsibility since you own those things. If you understand that, then what you've heard about WOW changing for service calls only makes sense but people that don't understand that kind of stuff and don't know how to diagnose it, complain because it's what they know how to do.

I'm kind of laughing because you say you've read things about WOW's customer service, and charging fees like Comcast is any better.

I would highly recommend WOW in Warren. If Comcast has a lower price for better service, then I wouldn't be afraid to use them as well. To me, they both provide great internet service, so I try to use that to my advantage when the introductory rates raise, like they all do.

Something to consider, if you use a lot of data: »www.xfinity.com/support/ ··· ed-data/

Don't get me wrong I don't expect great CS from any of them, but the service call thing Comcast tried to charge me for a call one time. What you say does make sense but people made it seem as if just getting them the come out they charged. I'm the same way, I hate calling these people so if I'm on the phone with them its because Ive done everything I can do and I know its not my equipment that's the problem.

What speed tier are you on? do you have cable as well? You don't notice any slowdowns or anything during peak times?

I play a lot of online FPS games so speed, but more importantly latency and packet loss issues would be a problem.

Yes I just recently became aware of the Comcast data cap because for a very long time they didn't have one here. It does upset me, but also it is a 1TB cap..right now at least I dont think Ill get close to that. If/when I cut the cord and drop cable then that may be another story. Comcasts internet pricing doesn't make it very practical to cut the cord though

I live in Sterling Heights and have had no issues with their connection. I've never seen it go down either.

Had an internal issue in my house and after that was resolved it seems to be just fine. Was charged a service call fee but that was because they came into it. My PC is also an issue but that's a different story . After lots of testing, I know the lines are getting me the speed I'm paying for.

I've been with WOW only 2 months and was deciding the same thing. Comcast speed and reliability is pretty constant, but WOW's pricing is better. I only surf the web and stream Netflix and it never buffers. Not sure about gaming and ping/latency though.

My plan is monthly 500/50, so I decided to go that route. I'm glad I did so far at least.

I'm currently on the 60/5 plan. Moving to 100/10 shortly. I do FPS games (Call of Duty, Socom), and Sports gaming like NBA 2K. Not as much as I used to when I 1st signed up with 8/1 service. I have a teenage son that plays Resident Evil online regularly as well. I used to have Cable TV but cut that cord 2 years ago. Internet only now. I have Netflix and Hulu where a typical scenario in my household is that my 5y/o is streaming Hulu on a tablet watching cartoons and I am streaming Netflix on one TV, while the wife is streaming her Netflix programs on another, while the teenager is gaming online.

Zero problems. No latency issues while gaming.

If you read the forums, you will always see people experiencing problems. That's what they do, they come on the forums to get help or to b*tch and moan and disappear a short time afterwards.....there are some here that like to hang out and B&M often. They're just miserable people that like to blame everything and everyone else for their misery. I would say easily 9 out of 10 people who are experiencing a problem, it is typically on their side, but you do sometimes come across the 1 out of 10 who are experiencing legit problems with the WOW service. There is a Comcast forum section here as well. You'll see the same things over there as well. I try to assist where I can, and I can say that the majority of people who have come on experiencing problems, we trouble shot it down to their side. Typically a problem with their wiring configuration related to splitters, bi-amp device, wiring, or modem.

No one comes on forums to post, "I had great internet today, just thought I'ld stop in to let everyone know." Maybe you can start that trend if you sign up for WOW.

Look for a PM from me, I'll give you some other interesting details in regards to WOW in Warren.
