The current named ACC was built by and for MLSE, rather than naming it after themselves when it was opened (though they did add their name to a renovated space to the West) they made a choice to sell the naming rights. It houses two of the worst teams in the NHL and NBA respectively so it could be fairly called the Toronto teams suck centre, unfortunately no matter how descriptive MLSE wants money and they are free as the buildings owners to accept any name they wish. I really don't care what its called, though I have to say my opinion of Scotia Bank has diminished since they made the announcement. However when public money is used to make things and then something else (such as Canada's worst cable, cell and phone company) comes along and glues its name on it for a ridiculous bargain price (about 1/10 the cost of construction) I am annoyed. Hence I still and always will call it the Skydome. The CN tower kept the name (or letters at least) however used a slightly different logo, and they did so because attaching a new name on it would not have worked with their business plans. |

I just said that they do not own it, I did not need to give a history lesson on the fact that they used to own it, but it is not a completely different situation, skydome was owned by a consortium, rogers did NOT have to change the name when they bought it but they did. the cn tower can change their name if they ever want to. no ones stopping them |

ScotiaBank Gardens I though of that too, but then it would risk confusion (in their pointed heads) with the TD Gardens in Boston. NefCanuck |

Wasn't it the Boston Garden at one point? We'd have to remind those "pointed heads" dudes of that.
Madison Square Garden is another one.... |

Madison Square Garden is another one.... Yeah, the "New Boston Garden" for maybe a year or two before they sold the naming rights. Man for the kind of money MLSE got for the naming rights to the building, if you paid me that, you could call me "Mr. @##hole" for the rest of my like and I'd take it with a smile. NefCanuck |
