mreg posted : Netflix showed up, but I was still on 4.6 and Netflix would not load, so I bit the bullet and did a cold init on the VMS. Went well, finally got 4.7.1 but favorites were gone, AND even though the IPC's worked fine the VMS could not see them. So gone was my ability to import the favorites. So I did a cold init on the IPC's and now all is well, Netflix works on all, except for the headache of redoing the favorites. I would still like to know why the boxes would not update to 4.7.1 on their own...

I would venture a guess that those who are saying they have this issue have had thier displays calibrated for accurate color and image reproduction.

airscapes posted : To those who tell me it is my set, you are looking at a 110" projected image from a Planar PD8150, it is not the display it is the data being displayed. The BR and the Roku are fine same show, same cables, same dispalys and other have the same issue. Oh and I have a Samsung and an LG and they display it the same. Was not like this a couple of years ago, same displays and cables, No DVR then.. .. been a customer for 8 years I know what I had and I aint got it no more! If I was not in a contract I would try going back to RCN.
Those with this issues seem to be in PA NY NJ anyone outside of this area have this issue?
One other thing to note, you can rewind it and play it back over and over exactly the same.. so not a display issue. If anyone wants to stop by some evening i would be happy to demo it!

NNard posted : I am going to chime in here as well. The picture is nowhere near the quality as it was years ago but I can understand that with cramming more channels can have that effect but I don’t know if it is the transcoders that they are using or conversion process (just guessing) but the low light issues is present on my setup and is distracting while trying to watch a program. Is it the equipment processing? There is an issue here so maybe word can get back to VZ to look into this.

airscapes posted : yes it does, it is most noticeable in low light scenes and yes ALL channels some worse than others. Exact same content for instance Van Helsing is almost unwatchable from Fios and the same episode from the $25 Ruko is perfect. I posted pictures of the latent image in one of the other threads. TV and cables not the issue, it is the content or a software/frimware issue with the DVR which was replaced along with the ONT and all coax, spliters and the one hdmi cable not common to the other device was swapped with the good device. Will attach a the photo I posted in the other thread for your convenience.
As you can see Andy's face from the previous scene is still there after the scene switches and lingers until it is covered by bright content. It is very freaking weird.. Not to mention the lack of high definition detail. BTW I don't think it is the DVR in that it happens at a neighbors house as well on a non DVR box.. She can't see it too old and TV too small ;-)
<TABLE WIDTH=96% align=center border=0 CELLPADDING=4">
