Re: Thanks for the price increase...said by Elector:"Purchase of Ooma Telo required, beginning at suggested retail price of $99.99. Ooma's free home phone service does not include high-speed Internet or broadband service. Free home calling offered in the United States only. Federal universal service charges, FCC regulatory fee, state and local taxes, fees & surcharges and regulatory and compliance fees are billed monthly and are subject to change. To determine the specific charges in your area, go to rates. Transfer of your existing phone number, where available, requires a one-time processing fee. Ooma Premier. and other enhanced features carry a monthly service fee and may require additional peripheral devices sold separately". ##########################################
So what was said price wise is correct. However if you purchase the Premiere service the $40 is waived. Having had these rip off scumbags in the past you will see so called taxes on taxes, failure to stop making charges to your credit card when wanting to cancel, and they want you to give or sell your Ooma Tel to another poor sap.
I was glad to get rid of them. If you want a really great VOIP service you cannot go wrong with »www.voipo.com for $185 complete for two years and over 40 features and sip on your other devices its a great provider.
Stay away from Ooma at all costs. There are no taxes or fees with VOIPo? |

To be honest I don’t believe so after the initial sale. I think it was around $149 plus tax which brought it to $185 for two years. They send the interface nic to your home. When you quit you must return the unit. So around $7.71 per month for 24 months of service. Still a very good price compared to Ooma. $108 for the Ooma Telo, $138 a year for the premiere and around $5-$8 in monthly taxes and fees. ($120 or $192) yearly + $138 premier ($258 or $330) Voipo is still the better value. |

Don't know how long they'll offer that 2 year plan. |

But they will not guarantee or support the ability to send or receive fax's over your VOIP line. If you do not need to send or receive fax's they are a good choice. |

There's also BasicTalk. » www.basictalk.com/ |

I think Basic Talk has been discontinued. Walmart's in Cincinnati Ohio do not carry them in store or online. It looks like you can still activate existing adapters if you can find one used. |

This is true of most VoIP services. Ooma made you Dial a prefix first but it did work without doing so. I use voipo via just lowering the baud rate to 9600 and it actually works great. Magic Jack also works with the lower baud setting. Like Ooma what ever you do don’t use NetTalk under any circumstances. Just check the net and make your decision. |
