if anyone know about killing jobs....

"the union argued that the union of the two companies would be a massive job killer"

For funniest effect, read second "union" with the same meaning as the first "union"

Yet the unions are what brought you many of the protections you enjoy in the workplace today like 40 our work weeks, breaks, workmans comp, safe workplace environments...but people take those for granted now because they actually think their employer is looking out for the employees best interest.

I would love a 40 hour work week

Listen with any merger there are going to be job losses because there are duplicate work slots. That is the way of life. You can't force a company to be inefficient, they have to be competitive.

In a two block radius by my house you have all 4 stores, so it will be down to 3. I am sure that picture will play out all over the US.

Would it make financial sense to keep two corporate stores open a block apart?

The unions that brought those to us were from almost 100 years ago. How long do we need to keep thanking the unions?

Are you kidding? There is a constant effort to overturn worker’s rights.

Who do you think is the only one pushing back? Hint: it’s not the corporations.

I did a quick search and could find no recent attempts to overturn the Federal overtime laws.

Do you have some specific examples in mind where worker rights were in the process of being reduced or being threatened to be reduced and the unions saved those rights? I am not talking about an individual company bargaining with a union, those are just contract negotiations. I am talking about rights , that all of us have, that a union has pushed back on. And saved.
