Re: [Cable] Rcable issue in Ottawa?Teksavvy, because of Rogers in general, has had intermittent capacity issues in certain areas of Ottawa for a long, long time. It comes and goes. Best solution is to get off of cable and move to vdsl. No activation fee for doing so right now, and you might be able to get a discount on the modem if you're switching because of performance problems. |

Sunday evening is the day Rcable back to its reputable speed. I don not how long will it last.
I had tried asdl 10 years before and was not thrilled with the service at all.
As transferring to Bell...It is just which devil you want to dance with. Bell has far worst customer service than Roger in my experiences. May be today Bell has changed and is not thumbing their customers. |

Might be a bigger issue, maybe on Teksavvy's end. My Smokeping plots to my gateway (first hop) are fine, but showing massive packet loss and intermittent outages to www.teksavvy.com, Akamai, other sites, since 8:40am. |

Ah, so its not just me. I've been getting random bursts of packet loss all morning. Random sites would be inaccessible for brief periods, but other sites would be working perfectly fine at the same time so the connection itself is fine.
Opened a direct forum post during the periods dslreports is accessible, but no responses yet =/ |

I had this problem a few weeks back. It looks suspiciously like Rogers is experimenting with new hardware / firmware because routing changes and routers change names. |

When Rogers has last mile problems, Teksavvy has last mile problems. Best solution is to get off ALL cable. |

A huge generalization. The reliability of cable has improved dramatically in the last 10 years. The big problem is that cable companies are only beginning to learn that they need to have a sense of urgency when making repairs with internet and phone. It's not like the old days when a few days without TV wasn't a big deal.
Sadly, the reliability of telco has declined dramatically. Copper to the home either from a fibre node or a CO or a remote CO is getting worse and worse. The telcos sense of urgency has declined in getting repairs done, especially after they moved a lot of their support off-shore.
So, the reality is, when push comes to shove, they're pretty much on a par these days. |

Dec 6th and 7th starts getting slow again..DSL upload test.. 2.73 Mbit...latency very slow.

Problem is intermittent. Come and go.. sometimes depends on the web site l am visiting is located. It is better now..I wonder if the internet traffic.

I forgot to report back issue was back to normal again.. however, I do experience Yahoo mail issue. The issue is mail stucked in outbox for hours or days. and is not being sent.
I suspeCt This seemis relating to speed or Roger server. Why I said this.. I'm currently out of town and using a family member wifi. Yahoo mail has no issue sending without dyuckef. All mail sent immediately. |

Yes, I,m..because it is an Android tablet. Using web browser version is also problematic some time.
I am back home now and mailing is ok now..just slight delay...I am more suspect itis Yahoo issue.. |
