[Other] Existing Customer Deals? Why is this new company Spectrum so against giving promotions to existing customers? with all the cord cutting you would think they would be doing what ever they can to keep their customers. But for some reason this company does not care about keeping its customers at all. Bright House was so much better then spectrum wish they never sold us out was the best cable company i ever dealt with. Comcast is also in my area and offering the same amount of service i have now for half the price $95 but i am not a fan of Comcast either but for half the price its an option and becoming a cord cutter is looking better and better all the time. |

Charter is hardly new. I've been with them for 18 years. Let's look at your logic. Get a promo when you are new then get that promo extended when you're existing. Then it's no longer a promo it's regular price then isn't it, since you are always paying that price. Let's see so if Charter let you keep say a $20 discount. So 25 million customers is $6 BILLION a year. So what you are really asking is "Why won't Charter give up $6 billion a year just to be nice?" Do you really need to ask that?
If your boss asked you to take a $2 an hour pay cut so they can lower the prices for the customers your company serves would you? Hell no you wouldn't. Why not? Why are you being mean to the customers of your company forcing them to pay higher prices because you refuse to get paid less? Show me a CEO that would be willing lose $6 billion a year and I'll show you a CEO that will soon be unemployed. |

Well considering they have double the price and if they can offer those prices that just goes to show there ripping people off there is no need for that high of a price we are talking about doubling somebody's bill after a promo. Cable companies have been over charging for years and raising prices over and over. We are not talking about a $20 difference that would be acceptable but when it goes up month after month when a promo is over thats just abusing the customers. I take it you must work for them lol
Plus if you search around or look at other options for the same channels you can see the average price for cable/internet.
I been with Brighhouse for years and they did it. I would hate to have to cancel service just because they are greedy. |

If find if you go to an office in person you're more likely to get some sort of deal than calling in. |

I absolutely agree I too am about to disconnect service and maybe I'll reconnect later down the line when I can be considered a new customer again unless I find a cheaper deal elsewhere but the prices being so high with these companies had me cable and internet-less for 4yrs |

Double the bill after a year and if you don't like it cancel, come back in a couple of months and get the same price you were paying. They hit me with a big fat increase last year, so I cut the cord. But I'm not going back next month or next year. Not with this company. I'll just do without. BHN was so much different. Call when the year was up and they put you on something better and cheaper. |

Does the person has to have a different last name than the previous account holder in order to get the promo if they share the same house? |

said by Anon71162 :Getting a new promo is super simple if there is another adult in the house. Call up to cancel, then the next day have the other person sign up for service in their name. We just did this and it saved us $20/mo. Why make the paying customer go through that nonsense? It's petty tomfoolery. One of the reasons why I left Cheater in 2013 and never looked back. |

Charter used to do the same with offering promo after promo but when the new CEO took over in 2012, they did not want to do the promo game because it was just a mess. That's why they started to do the Charter packaging with tv select instead of the old big/bigger/biggest or digital home tv plans.
A lot of people forget that Charter went bankrupt in 2009 and the finances of the company weren't doing very well (they didn't post a profit from 1999-2009) until Rutledge came in and changed things up and really started to try and grow the company again. Upgrades to internet and TV were really stagnant before Rutledge came in I hate to say and they have been trying to build the company back up since. |

Most people only have the one viable option. If there were actually choices we wouldn't be concerned about promo pricing. |

Also its the same reason why someone can cancel, leave for 90 days, come back and then qualify as a new customer. Which, at least to me, doesn't make much sense either. |

Good luck, Spectrum refused to even come close to Grande cable internet pricing. $69.99 for 1000/50 with a $3 cable modem rental fee. 32 Docsis 3.0 channels and a 3.1 channel on Grande plant. $82 a month after first year.
The only argument that Spectrum had was that I had access to wifi hotspots nationwide. I have unlimited data with AT&T, unlimited plus with an unlimited Hotspot, with AT&T hotspots nationwide. |

said by Defiance:Do you ask for a promo pricing or deals everytime you go out to eat at the same place? /rollseyes That's comparing apples to oranges. With restaurants you have endless choices and multiple locations of some of those choices nearby. With ISP you are LUCKY if you have two choices, both with terrible product and way overpriced to boot. |

Spectrum is a steal compared to Comcast. I’d kill to have spectrum rack rate after dealing with crappy capped cable, that’s overpriced even on promo
300/25 is $99 with a 1TB cap to boot, you want unlimited? That’s $50 addon |

Isn't the concept of a promotion, to promote a new product? So why would you need a "promotion" to continue getting the same product that you have? Sounds like you are asking for a loyalty discount. And they still have those. They are only for one year in length. You have to be paying full retail "rack" rate for your services and then threaten to leave and speak with a specialist, who will then review your account to make sure you are subscribed to the right level of service. Only then will they give you the loyalty discount. But after you have exhausted that, you are done.
Otherwise, they would just raise the rate of internet and tv to 300 to 500 dollars and then invent promotions to trick you into paying the rate of the service and calling in every few months and haggling like you are at a turkish bazaar. Think of all the jobs that would create! They would have to employe 10s of thousands to man the phones to handle all the subs having to constantly haggle for a new promotion, since the real price would never be realized. Ahh people would then be paying more, not to just watch tv, but to call into a call center, so they can watch tv. #Americafirst |

How do these cable companies get away with milking us dry?
No competition.
If there was competition instead of a letter saying your bill is doubling next month, it would be more like - stay with us for x years and we'll give you a loyalty discount. |

The term promo is just a psychological ploy to con the customer into thinking they haven't been ripped off. |
