Re: Frontier Modem + Netgear Switch issues.Well, I almost never have to set a network up like this. Usually when there is not enough holes we just buy a new larger port device. BUT, I was trying to save a penny and I really like the wireless access range on the Netgear...
I was thinking that between bridge mode etc...maybe there would be a way to be able to utilize both devices ports. I know there is a way, just not sure where or what it is called. The manufacturer say there is a bridge mode in the Netgear but no where can it be found... |

Bridge mode is not what you want. That's where you want the modem to be _just_ a DSL modem and have the Netgear do everything. Plenty of reasons to want to do that, but you won't be able to use the other ports on the DSL modem that way. |

yeah well for this Netgear router is just about ready to go out the window. It boasts functionality in the documentation that is just not there. Anyway, I was just hoping to avoid the need for yet another device. I need 5 or 6 ports but only have 4 on the netgear...3 empty ones on the modem. I suspect there is a way, but the frontier documentation is almost non-existent. |
