[Other] Spectrum: How to stop mailers from being sent to me....I was a Spectrum customer from 2014 to 2017, I only ever had internet + voice. I cancelled in January 2017 after my successful AT&T fiber install.
However.... they keep snail-mailing me offers on paper at least two times a week. I can't make them stop. I tried calling their customer service but they just whittled around it by saying they don't handle the mailing of promotional material and there wasn't anything they could do.
The offers vary: Sometimes it is "come back to us" type offer, sometimes a completely new client offer, sometimes addressed to me, sometimes addressed to "resident", sometimes addressed to my wife..... I have even gotten THREE identical ones on the same day addressed to me, "resident" and my wife.

I don't think it's possible. I'm a current internet-only customer and see the same thing. Ever since I got an "Upgrade Notice" that was nothing but a sales pitch for TV service I just send anything that isn't obviously a bill straight into the shredder without opening it. |

better than repeated telemarketing calls, and that's the treatment I get as a paying customer |

The last time anyone in my household had any cable services was about 15+ years ago. We get 1-3 mailings a week from spectrum, all offers for current resident. |

How do I make the madness stop? Sign up for Spectrum. Their new customer promotional pricing is pretty good. |

That site worked for me to put a stop to the telemarketing calls trying to get me to buy TV service, but it never stopped the mailers. However, I haven't gotten anything from them since I canceled service. Since I didn't take any other services and stated I was strictly canceling for price reasons I probably got tagged as "not worth the effort" in their system. If I had AT&T Fiber available to me, there is no way I'd go to Spectrum either. Hopefully someday it will come here. |

When I cut the cord I was already largely using Netflix, and barely actually used "channels" as a form of entertainment. Why throw money at something that i don't want to use, regardless of whether I want to save it or not? |

That doesn't work. I can enter my EMAIL address to not be emailed anything, but not for snail mail. Ironically, my wife went through today's mail just now and said: "ugh, ANOTHER piece of spectrum junk mail".... There is a do-not-call registry, but there doesn't appear to be a do-not-snailmail registry. |

Why throw money at something that i don't want to use, regardless of whether I want to save it or not? Well, that goes without saying. If you simply prefer the programming on Netflix over what's on cable, then that's a normal decision. No need to label it cord cutting or give it some other special title. It's simply a matter of preference. Did you do the math? Would you save more taking the double play promo even if it's just for a year? |

No to account number entry | Yes to account number entry |
It's as clear as mud, but the "do not mail" part is available when you select the yes or no buttons at the bottom of the page and enter the info requested. Either entry method will usually result in this response (I just did it both ways, to make sure I'm still off their lists):

Has anyone actually managed to get them to stay at 69.99 for let's say 300/20 after the first year, weather it be with retention or in store personally? |

The reason for so much "junk" mail is that it costs so little to send it. Make every item (including EDDM) cost more, and it will go away. That this may cause the USPS to go bankrupt (faster than it is going) is a different issue. |

DirecTV Bill in 2018, if I had kept it: $135 covering the 4 years of price increases. Streaming Bill in 2018: $32 "base", which is Netflix for $13.99, Hulu for $11.99, and with a yearly rate of $99 for Amazon which also includes many OTHER features, I chose $8 as the monthly average. Streaming "Subhops": I set myself a budget of $50 a month for entertainment, so I have $18 a month to play with as extra. Sometimes I spend a little more, usually a lot less. Examples: - I subbed for 1 month to SlingTV ($25, already cancelled) so I had access to the NBC Olympics App. - I subbed to CBS All Access ($9.99) for 1 month in December to catch the first half of the Star Trek season. - I plan to sub to another month of CBS All access to catch the second half of that season. - I will sub to one month of Starz once the next season of Outlander hits. So far, over the last 4 years.... my average spending per month (I often don't spend anything extra beyond Netflix, Hulu and Amazon) has been around $40 a month. NO Promo is going to get close to that, AND replace all the content I would be able to get on Netflix, Hulu and Amazon..... If I compare that to the price I would have paid had I kept DirecTV, I would have saved around $85 a month - and that is assuming I would not pay for any streaming services. You are asking me if a "double play" would save me money? I doubt it. Considering my "base" cost of $32 for streaming media, and if I add my subhopping throughout the year say $40 on average month..... name me a service that would give me access to roughly the same content as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and possibly a hopping subscription of something else.... for that same price? I don't think any cable company would be able to deliver. And they would be restricted to my house, and their hardware. (Hint: the LA market doesn't have a Spectrum streaming option, it is all-in with leasing equipment or nothing). So yeah.... I have done the math. I have done the math a hundred times. Netflix, Amazon and Hulu give me SO MUCH content for $32, I don't think any cable company can compete. And then we're not even talking 4k content yet.... |

Gotta prove how evil cable is. $80 for AT&T. $40 for your various OTT services. That's $120 if my math is correct. The double play promo is $90 according to their website. Add about $9 for the Broadcast TV surcharge, $7 for their franchise fee, $7 for a cable box. That comes to about $113. I do believe you'd be saving more. It's funny. You slam DirecTV for being more expensive, but I'm sure you're gonna praise your OTT services for having more features than cable, even though cable is slightly cheaper. |

You canât. They just tell the PO to deliver to a zip code and thatâs how it goes out. Hence- current resident. |

My guess is it will only stop targeted mailers. If they carpet bomb your entire neighborhood you'll probably still get them. |

If the mailers are addressed to "Current Resident" there is no real way to stop those. Companies pay marketing companies to mail to zip codes. My dad lives on the outer edges of a zip code covered by Spectrum but he's 3 miles from their nearest lines. He gets them all the time to Current Resident and has talked with management and they said it's a marketing company paid to market to his zip code so they will mail every address in that zip code so the marketing company can claim they sent more which gets them paid more. |
