[Billing] Verizon Customer Service LyingI canceled my service (FIOS INTERNET) mid-February 2018, middle of my billing cycle. I suppose to get a pro-rated charge, instead, Verizon charged me a full month. I called Verizon customer service and the representative supposedly reduced my charges and I PAID that new specified amount. THE REMAINING CHARGE WAS NOT REDUCED and the representative told me it will be cleared on the next billing cycle. I waited until the March billing cycle but the charge was not cleared. I called back to the customer service, and another representative told me that I have to wait until the new billing cycle has been generated. So I waited until the new bill has been generated in April and guess what? MY CHARGES HAS NOT BEEN CLEARED.
I called the customer service again and asked them what is going on. They told me I have to wait until JUNE 2018 until my new bill to see the new changes. That made no sense but the agent keeps insisting that I have to wait until JUNE 2018 for my FINAL bill. I raised my concern that if this was not resolved, I might get sent to collections. The agent confidently informed me that changes will appear on the FINAL bill in JUNE 2018.
This has been on my mind and increasing my stress level, so I GAVE UP and just paid my remaining balance of $31.00 on May 6, 2018. It is now May 14, 2018 and guess what? THEY SENT ME TO COLLECTIONS!
WOW! WOW! WOW!
So it seems that the Verizon customer service representatives have been lying to me and they just want me to get off the phone! I posted this issue on the Verizon forum, and another representative private messaged me, telling me that the finance department can help me. I already called them 4 times! |

I don't believe Verizon prorates internet accounts anymore. I would have paid the full amount. Sending you to collections over 31 dollars is absurd. |

dplantz: Sending you to collections over 31 dollars is absurd
Back around 1987, Apple Computer sent me threatening letters for a bill of $0.01, a single penny, that was due because they split an order in two. The sales tax then rounded up to the extra penny above what I had already paid. After several cycles I finally paid the penny. Companies will do absurd things - they want their money even if it costs them far more to get it than it is worth. |

I'd have been an ass and sent them a check for $1 which would force them to cut me a refund check for $0.99. |
