Re: [Pricing] Advice...FiOS or Optimum (Altice)?

Update...

I wound up going with FiOS, mainly because the (ugly) ONT is already installed in my apartment from the previous owners, and my employer provides Verizon Connections discounts. I'm going Internet Only, 100/100, no TV or phone.

So here's my next dilemma/question: I elected to "bring my own router"...but from what I've read it can likely be any router I want, not necessarily the G1100, correct? I already own the free T-Mobile version of the ASUS RT-AC68U. Any reason I should buy a G1100 instead? If not, the installer should be able to just get the ASUS up and running on day of install, no?

Is there any advantage on buying a G1100 and bridging the ASUS to it so I can use its USB ports (which I've read are not active on the G1100) to connect and share hard drives on my network (as I currently do)?

With no tv service installed, there is no reason to use VZ router. Use what you own. Not sure if there are any limitations of TMO version of the router but it should operate exactly as in your other place.

Good luck
