Re: Is this modem legal?

Ask the seller for the S/N on the modem. If you get it, ask Cox to see if they will allow it on the network. If the seller does not give it to you, you got your answer.

Thanks to all who replied, I know to check with Cox to see if the modem is legal, what I'm asking for is an *INSTANT* contact method. If I drive over to the seller's house I can see the serial number, I'd need to check it right then and there, not wait for an email or spend the usual 30 minutes fighting through Cox's switchboard!

Is there such a contact?

I really don’t know how fast Cox can react. There isn’t any website for checking it.

Contact Cox now and ask how long it takes. Then we can take it from there.

EDIT: Get the S/N now from the seller. Don’t wait until you go to the place of sale.

You would have to call cox... they dont have a "direct " / private forum on here like some of the other ISPs ...

There are a few cox employees that sometimes post in here but not sure what they are capable of ..

I think cox has a Twitter/ social media team ??

I would just call ... I imagine they have a way to see if lost / stolen...

rofl! you used "instant" and "cox" in the same sentence.
if you want to save some money you are going to have to endure the cox phone system.
