Storm was gone several hours later and I fired up everything without an issue.<br>Just a few minutes ago I got the double beep thing and so I pulled the battery.<br>1 battery has a bit of a bulge on the side close to the middle.<br>Nothing leaking.<br>It showed full bars on the UPS but when I put it back in it showed 1 bar and is charging now.<br><br>This has happened several times over the years where I shut down the UPS and it ignores the battery or something.<br><br>Might be time for new batteries I guess.<br>They lasted a month short of 3 years, not too shabby I guess?]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[Thane_Bitter posted : I look at the cost of APC branded cells and laugh, if you want to pay almost that much go get a better product and buy Panasonic batteries, build your own battery unit out of them.  APC buys in bulk whatever costs less wins the contract.  BUT, if your UPS is newish and still has a warranty they will not help you unless you have APC branded cells in your UPS.  Depending on your situation paying extra might be warranted.<br><br>Of chance if you have had or having swelling issues with the cells its the UPS not the cell, some APU UPSs are known for having a float charge which is too high.  Also on some models its necessary to manual adjust a constant value in the devices firmware when replacing cells if you aren't seen improved run times post replacement (much easier and less stress than ruining a calibration test).]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[Thane_Bitter posted : I'd check the F terminals to be sure that:<br>A) they are gripping well with the battery tab, its a friction fit and with use they can loosen up. <br>B) that the wire crimped into the F connector is in good shape and not pulling out.<br>C) Optional - on some UPS the harness terminates to the UPS using an Anderson connector.  Either end might need cleaning or replacement from pitting or corrosion.]]></description>

Since Schneider took over the company has devolved.<br><br>I didn't get a harness when I dealt with that place in Markham either, still it was easy enough to transfer the old one over.  Depending on the number of batteries in a RBC, it might be advantageous for less mechanically/electrically minded folks to get a pre-wired one.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[anon posted : Keep in mind digikey.com and Panasonic batteries.<br><br>The cheapy / generic batteries that I installed in a UPS died (shake the batteries and you hear what sounds like rocks in the batteries) within a couple of years.  The other UPS (with the original batteries) that had been in service for years before I replaced the first UPS's batteries were still was trucking along when the cheapies died.<br><br>Both of the UPSs only saw a couple prolonged power outages.]]></description>

APC is like any other company, it uses the cheapest batteries it can get, of course they do charge the most for them and if your UPS has issues with non-APC batteries their support team can't help you (which is utter BS IMHO).<br><br>One bad cell ruins the bunch, I have a cordless drill with the same issue, one of the cells is dead, as a result the drill has less power, less capacity and the power pack gets a bit too warm as its recharged.  In a SLA you can't do much if one of the cells is bad, at least I could rebuild the drill battery pack if I could source cheap but good cells.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[Cartel posted : mine were the Kung Long batteries.<br>they were good till the power went out here  for a few hours and I ran it down but they wouldn't take a charge.<br>1 sits at 9.6v and the other 11.6.<br>They just get hot and I hear squeaks from the internal vent, I'm just gonna have to run without the ups for a couple weeks till the batteries get here.<br>I got 5 years outta them at least.<br><br>No way I'm paying $108 plus taxes and eviro fees for the RBC123 pack from bestbuy or the source.<br>I'd like to go up from 7ah to 9ah anyways, I was surprised to see the kunglongs...I thought APC was "American"]]></description>
