We got power back after 24 hours (instead of the predicted 48) so we are good. Others in the family not so lucky they got it back after 48 only to lose it again.

For $10, hard to say.

Nothing leaking.
It showed full bars on the UPS but when I put it back in it showed 1 bar and is charging now.

This has happened several times over the years where I shut down the UPS and it ignores the battery or something.

Might be time for new batteries I guess.
They lasted a month short of 3 years, not too shabby I guess?

I haven't had any new APC units in a few years, but the APC labelled batteries used to always be CSB brand, for a really long time.

Of chance if you have had or having swelling issues with the cells its the UPS not the cell, some APU UPSs are known for having a float charge which is too high. Also on some models its necessary to manual adjust a constant value in the devices firmware when replacing cells if you aren't seen improved run times post replacement (much easier and less stress than ruining a calibration test).

C) Optional - on some UPS the harness terminates to the UPS using an Anderson connector. Either end might need cleaning or replacement from pitting or corrosion.

But the purpose of my post was simply to compare value for money, and it still stands on its own merit.

And some readers would rather not get into doing the rebuild of the pack, so might like to know what's included from each source.

Another observation I have is how the price of batteries for UPSes in general has spiked since our dollar went down the crapper. :huh:

I have never purchased replacement batteries that came with the harness, except for once. Once at work an original APC battery pack was purchased.

That worries me, as I'm also shopping for batteries ATM.

Even a couple of layers of cardboard to separate the various batteries in a common box should not be too much for which to ask.

BTW, when I priced a popular RBC7 pack for the APC SU1400-1500 series, SaskBattery is not including the wiring harness, fuses, brackets, and DS tape, and charging $99.00, but including ground shipping.

For the same net price, the 3 Toronto firms all DO seem to be including the supporting hardware, but each charging in the low $20's for ground shipping within Canada.

It would appear that as usual in life, one gets that for which one pays.

It is also interesting to see what happens to the shipping price if you select on each site that you want it shipped to the USA, and what the product price to US buyers would be in US funds.

The other UPS (with the original batteries) that had been in service for years before I replaced the first UPS's batteries were still was trucking along when the cheapies died.

Both of the UPSs only saw a couple prolonged power outages.

One bad cell ruins the bunch, I have a cordless drill with the same issue, one of the cells is dead, as a result the drill has less power, less capacity and the power pack gets a bit too warm as its recharged. In a SLA you can't do much if one of the cells is bad, at least I could rebuild the drill battery pack if I could source cheap but good cells.

No way I'm paying $108 plus taxes and eviro fees for the RBC123 pack from bestbuy or the source.
I'd like to go up from 7ah to 9ah anyways, I was surprised to see the kunglongs...I thought APC was "American"

I've been using them for the past 3 years. The 20 batteries I've got from them are working away like a charm. I've got another 48 that I'm going to need to replace in the next 2 years so that will be the real test.
