said by AR:Check out the gas prices and ICBC auto premiums too. Gas prices yes. So many BC taxes on fuel. ICBC though. Many provinces have rates that are higher than ICBC (and some are lower). It's a mixed bag. |

You guys do have lower property taxes than ON. Lower condo maintenance fees too because of no central heating / air conditioning.
All in all - for someone who has the ability to pay, no other place better than Vancouver. Look at the amazing natural beauty, no other place in North America compares. |

Their gas prices suck, but your heating days are numbered, as are the air conditioning days. So you save there. |

That's why BC stands for Bring Cash. Skiing, hiking, fishing and a beautiful natural harbor for boating. No hurricanes and some of the best restaurants in the world. Most tourists don't want to leave. |

By the way it’s -12c windchill in Toronto today.
I don’t agree with you on restaurants. For how much it costs, restaurants in Toronto and Vancouver are quite mediocre. |

New York City. A plate of pasta at one star Michelin joint is $20 something- same as Paulo’s in Belleville.
Ambience, service, taste : miles apart. |

Last I checked Belleville was three hours east of Toronto. That being said, I'm not sure how you expect a main to be lower than $20 anywhere. If you were telling you were getting a steak dinner for two with drinks in NYC for under $100, then you might have something, but again, I'm unsure what needs to be had that you're not getting. |

Hotel outside ottawa which had amazing food was much cheaper. San Fran was pretty overwhelming when we were there. We tried to go to the cheesecake factory but it was a complete zoo and you and couldn't order anything. We found an In N' Out burger a bit later in our day. It might be fast food, but it's not expensive, and it's pretty good I wish we had those here. |

I had the tomato appetizers, a glass of red wine, a peppercorn ny steak and the pie at Keg in Kingston all by myself (I was famished : 15 km hike on an empty stomach all day) and that was $102.
Just one hungry person at the Keg. Imagine how much it’d cost for two. |

Montreal is also larger, and is regarded as a cultural capital of sorts, what I was saying is that Ottawa is doing OK food wise for a city that size (at least it was when I lived there) |

Montreal food is no better than anywhere else, and when it comes to Asian dishes, Montreal pretty much suck hairy donkey balls. After living in South East Asia for a couple of years, it took me nearly four years before I could even tolerate putting Montreal made Asian food in my mouth, the shit here is just plain gross. Vancouver and Montreal food can’t even be compared, especially when it comes to certain Asian dishes, seafood and Sushi - especially Sashimi like Toro (both Tuna and Salmon) and Aji. |

One particular subset that you personally don’t find up to par definitely negates the entire city’s quality dining. Hmm. I wonder if there’s a reason there is better Asian cuisine in Vancouver than in Montreal. Could it be a larger Asian community? Nah.... Try looking at the totality of the market. Or shall I just say that Vancouver food overall is shit because their smoked meat game doesn’t hold a candle to Montreal? |

You can have the 3rd world food. They could give you carp and disguise it as tuna and you wouldn’t know. Montreal is for real dining. |
